I just up graded my T Mobile cell service.with a side kick 3....Any one have one and how do you like it.
I am on the go all the time now.Running two shops
And twelve employies..In two different locations.
Email and text is big now.

I had a Sidekick 2 (Till I dropped it in the lake fishing) and it was a pretty kick ass phone. I thought about getting the new one. It looks pretty kick ass. Only draw back on the sidekick 2 was the size, and it looks like they fixed it with the size of the sidekick 3. Your gonna like it.

Other than me believing that you secretly wish you were Paris Hilton (because she has one)?

The truth is T-Mobile's data network is for poop. They have no high speed offering at all and do not have any concrete plans of rolling one out. The device itself is not bad, but to get the full benefit of it, the network needs to be robust enough and T-Mobile's simply isn't. T-Mobile's current data network can really only support 30-60 kbps speeds (which is snail poop slow).

If you are looking for some sort of wireless e-mail/web device and are looking specifically for Blackberry, I'd suggest at least looking at Verizon, Sprint or Cingular. Their networks are so much better that the price difference is actually worth it.

It really depends on what you are looking for, my man.

Well I already ordered it.But can send it back..
When I get back from the bash..Ill check out the crack berry.
And one of the other services out there.

If you are NOT hung up on getting an actual Blackberry device, I strongly suggest looking into the Treo 700 (either Palm or Windows). The Motorola "Q" is also a good handset to look into.

Let me know if I can provide any assistance. I know a little bit about this stuff!

If you have quetions on the networks LMK. I am pretty sure I can answer most of them.

FYI

Not every area has the same options that you may get in a different area. For example, the Verizon Networks have digital areas and than Extended Digital areas most Digital areas do not support EVDO( High Bandwitdh ) or CDMA2000( 1X network ). You are still limited to IS-95( regular digital ).

Same goes for Cingular only they work off of GSM/GPRS and Edge.

I also agree that T-Mobile has the WORST network. They are actually better than Nextel and that is pretty bad as Nextel blows.

That's only partially true. Both Sprint and Verizon have rolled out their EVDO REV-A networks, but you're right, they cover mainly the major metropolitan areas and neither carrier has any plans to fully implement EVDO REV-A to their entire digital footprints. Cingular does have Edge fully deployed, but most folks do not consider Edge broadband speeds, but more like very fast dial-up.

Both Verizon and Sprint have their 1XRTT data networks deployed on their entire digital networks. You're looking at 50-70 kbps speeds, which isn't horrible for things like e-mail and the like.

The EVDO networks were designed and rolled out specifically to target mobile laptop users who would want to use connection cards to access the web or their corporate networks and enjoy broadband speeds. Handheld devices simply do not have the processor speed to take advantage of the EVDO network, and a lot of people do not understand that.

The next generaton of broadband data is EVDV (Evolution Data and Voice). EVDO requires a carrier to assign parts of their spectrum for EVDO use, meaning that spectrum cannot carry voice traffic. EVDV allows the entire spectrum to carry both voice and data.

Sprint also plans to launch WiMax by 2010 and what positions them very well is that, because of the Nextel merger, they now own 85% of the spectrum where WiMax works.

Anyhow Zandor, I'm sure that's more than you were bargining for, but like Jon2, I know a thing or two as well. I should, I built Sprint's network in OH, KY, IN and western PA!

LOL..I just want to send and receive email:confused:
The place I will be working at while our new building is being built..Does not have A INTERNET connection Or phone service.....And I am not going to pay to put it in some one Else's building....
So I think the side kick will work for right now.For my application..Now in the future I will be needing a higher end service. One that I will be able to communicate at a much faster speed.:smoke:

When the time comes I will have alot of Q's for ya! Like whats hot and whats not at the time.

Don't know about Sprint service there, but I have a connection card you can have (it's the 1XRTT version) that'll work in your laptop. All you need to do is order the service. Just throwing the offer out there.

Well I got my SK3 the other day..So far so good..Its easy to use.the navigation wheel is awesome.for now it is going to work just fine for me..The ease of email is a big plus. The web browsing is a slow. But hey its not a pent 4 now is it..

sweet. I loved my sidekick 2. Yeah the net on my sidekick 2 was slow as well, but the other features make up for. (The texas Hold em is awesome on there!) They made it alot smaller too, so thats a big plus. I always had really good luck with t-mobile. Lots of minutes for cheap, and I got signal everywhere. Even where most phones wouldnt. Have fun with it man!
