Someone hopefully can give me some info on Integy's Super Duty shocks. Part # MSR5. I was told that they leak and are very hard to bleed the air out. So whats the word, POS or are they worth the money. or :thumbdown

Thanks

POS for sure. Stick to stock if they're the alums. If not, then pick up the HPI alum. one's.

Total crap, avoid them like the plague! The stockers are actually very good shocks. I have been beating on mine in my SS for years now, and never had any problems with them.

The only shocks for bashing are the stock plastic units. Everything else will break or bend twice as easy.I have ran CEN shocks, LST shocks, Muggy shocks, HPI al. shocks.
None of them are up to basher duty.
If you race, the new HPI Big Bores are sweet and make a massive handling improvement.
They are tough enough to race with, but I would not recommend bashing them. Too expensive.

Hey guys thanks for saving a brother a few bucks! Scrogg you don't even like HPI's alum. shock. Where's their weak point.

Most likely its probably because they're aluminum and its easy to deform and bend. Plastic just flexes.

I would most surely stick to the stock if u are a basher, anything else will get expensive and the stock ones work well and u can get a full set for $15 on ebay. So it is no big deal if ya break one,I break several on the front end each yr....but my driving sucks.

Dead on, I have a 8 bent ones sitting in the spare parts bin.
The Savage shock is just too long to be aluminum. There has to be some flex somewhere.

What bends on them though? Are you meaning that the shock body itself doesn't flex, so it tends to hydrolock and bend shafts? Or are the shock bodies bending?

I was thinking of saving up a getting 8 of the HPI big bores for a basher. Or maybe going back to my 1/8 buggy OFNA 9.5 rear shocks with my lowered towers, now that I have a roll bar again. I just need to find some softer springs that fit normal 1/8 buggy shocks. Running 8 of what I have is far too rigid.

The shafts bend.... you bump into something and the housings dent on the HPI threaded al. shocks.
My buddy has the HPI big bores on his racer, they have held up nice and the dual rate springs are sweet. it is just a racer though.
Olds, have you tried the CEN Nemesis shocks? They are tough as helll. They just need a different spring/oil combo than what they come with. They are set up for a 18 lb truck!
The CEN red springs are not too bad for running 8 of them. The white springs are stiff! i think the Red springs with some 10-20wt oil would be good. I had 35wt in these and it was too thick. I also had to use an aluminum adjustable shock tower. I bent those too BTW!:D See last pic!
You give up a little down travel too.

Believe it or not those shocks where still perfect after the rear shock tower almost bent clear to the engine.

I have seen the Losi LST shocks on a savage bashed to hell. They were made for extremely heavy rigs, so they are deff up to the chalange.

They break the shock shafts too easily IMO. Plus all the clunky aluminum hardware you have to add to run the LST shocks just adds too much weight IMO.

what are you talking about? the shock shaft DWARFS the stock setups. the only aluminum needed is the upper support that bolts to the shock tower. you could make that out of whatever you want and it certainly doesn't qualify as "clunky aluminum hardware"

its what 4oz of aluminum?

Personally I hate the look of the Losi shocks on a Savage. They look rediculous imo. They may work great, I really don't know, but to me they look terrible. I'll just stick with my stockers. Plus like already mentioned you can pick up replacement parts should you need the fairly cheap.

I had the Innovative RC kit, it was a lot of extra stuff to bolt on to get the correct geometry without using an aluminum shock tower.
The stockers will bend but you can still keep bashing with bent shocks.
LST shocks like to snap right at the threaded end. It does not matter how thick the shock shaft is if it is made from crappy metal.

That...looks pretty baller if you ask me. Makes the truck look diesel and it probably preforms a whole lot better.

i've never bent or snapped an lst shaft. you can always go TiNi if you think you will.
