Shipping delays - Indy

So this still doesn't seem to be resolved. My latest package hit Indy and has been stuck in there for 4 days now.

From a recent report from WRHR News in Indy:
"In February, 13News also spoke to the co-owner of “SingerHobbies” in Martinsville. For the last two months, the family business has taken a hit — not because of poor sales, but because packages aren’t being delivered on time."

"As a small business, we are getting our butts kicked. We really are. We are getting 30 to 40 phone calls and emails a day of, ‘Where's my package? I want my money back,’” said Tiffany Singer, who owns the shop with her husband.

Singer said the shop receives about 250 online orders a day, and about 90% of them are shipped through USPS.

According to Singer, the majority of those packages are getting stuck at the distribution hub in Indy.

"I have never had this many complaints. Never,” Singer said. “I have 46 open cases right now, and it changed to an additional five within 30 minutes."

Would businesses like them are able to switch to UPS or FedEx? Or which ever else services are out there?
That would be more expensive for sure. But if it were me, I would explain the situation on the checkout page, and offer UPS for the appropriate fee.

The hobby shop I just got an order from uses a service called Pirate Ship. It gives discounted rates for all of the shipping services. Maybe more should be using that and shipping UPS by default.

I don't know how it all works, but I do know bigger businesses have accounts to one of the large shipping entities, and they get a huge rate difference than what you or I would typically be charged.

That's what Pirate Ship does. It passes their discount on to you. Pretty smart thinking. And I just shipped Chewy my Jato and that heavy Rotisserie through Littlemotor, who used Pirate Ship to do that for me. $60 was really cheap to ship those two boxes.
