I have an SH .28 on an exceed rc mad beast. I burnt out the spur gear and changed it out, i had to take the motor out to change it but now the engine will not start or run right. If it does start, it revs up to full speed and then dies out. I dont know what to do, i have been messing with it for days, i can't get the engine to run please help.

It sounds to me like the engine is running way lean. If you're sure you have it set rich enough make sure the fuel is getting to the engine by checking your lines and filters.

Without starting the engine, take off the air filter and look into the carb. With only the Rx and radio on, make sure the throttle is working properly.
Turn down the trim tab on your Tx. Adjust the linkage if it's sticking or hanging up. Just a few of the basics.

I did all of these things, i checked everything. it wont run without the glow plug heater in either as soon as i pull it out it dies. i tried to put it bck to factory settings but no luck, looking for ideas on what to try next

Is the glow plug good?

The GP glows when i take it out, it seems to be good, any other ideas?

It may glow, but doesn't mean that it is at 100%. Try a new glow plug, another guess would be that you've got an air leak somewhere.

Sounds like your GP is dead and needs replaced or your running way too rich.

I agree, but the revving up on it's own might be another issue.
Pulll the carb O-rings and inspect them, make sure your exhaust and fuel system are leak free.
I had one engine do this to me before..... in my case the HSN housing loosened up just enough to suck air in around the banjo fitting.

ever since i broke the engine in whenever it was almost out of fuel it would rev full speed until it died, i dont know if this has anything to do with it, whats the best way to check for the leaks?

Your LSN may be set too lean. It should only idle up for a few seconds then die when it is low on gas.
Richen the LSN and then lean the HSN if performance is bad.
SH engines usually do not need much adjustment from the factory setting on the LSN.

well i got it to run for about 5 minutes, it was idling really high even after i turned the idle srew, it ended up burning out the spur gear and also was smoking (the engine). I put it away and i am going to give up on it i think. I dont know what happened, it ran fine for the first couple of days now it is usless.

Go to your LHS and let them have a look at it.
