Been away from the hobby for a while. I haven't been on this site in months it seems. I've taken up an additional hobby with my two older sons, which is Autocross. Talk about exciting! Anyway, I thought I would let some of you who know me what was going on and also wanted to inform everyone of my upcoming sale which will be posting in the classifieds shortly. Hope you all have been running hard and having a blast. If any one wants to contact me you may do so by my e-mail @: [email protected]

see Ya!

glad to hear your doing well. have fun autocrossing, i run street mod with my corrado and yes, its a blast.

What's a "Corrado"? I new you had something turbo charged, just didn't know what.
Email me if you want, we can talk cars. my ride is a 95 Miata that I just changed out the suspension, brakes and added a hardcore 6 pnt rollbar, now I'm just trying to decide wether to turbo it or supercharge it, I'm leaning towards an SC.

check into the flying miata turbo kits. having had both SC and turbo, i vote go turbo. they have the potential to make more power at the same boost pressures, are less shocking to the driveline, and in my opinion get the power to the ground better. theres less wheelspin because its higher rpm power, and its delivery is more fluid. superchargers just seem to light up the tires too much.

Autocross looks great, I havent done it yet, But next year I will be. Oh and I'd definately go with a turbo if you want forced induction, superchargers are excellent and all but i just like the turbo better, Superchargers offer power through the whole powerband and sometimes depending on what you are doing, that can be bad. Its up to you though, But whatever you do, even with a stock car, It will be a blast! Good to see your doin' good and back on the site for a little.

I run on a short track (Morosso Raceway, in Jupiter FL., we can only run 1/2 track) and around town on the weekends, or whenever I feel like taking her out. I've got a highly modified Superduty 7.3 TD, pushing about 420-430 RWHP & 780 ft. lbs. RWT @ 29-31 psi.
I just want something that will have consistant power going into and coming out of the corners. I'm not going to get into racing competitively, as it's too risky and very costly, this is just for serious fun (is there such a thing?). I'm looping at a BRP MP62 SC for now, it would take me to 175 RWHP vs 105 RWHP @ $3500.00 for a kit (kind of pricey if ya ask me), copared to an FMII @ $5500.00 w/ 210 RWHP. The BRP MP62 w/ an I.C. bumps it up to 210-220 RWHP @ $4500.00.
And you guys thought RC was expensive!

Corrado was/is a VW coupe made in the mid to late 90's. Body was fabricated out of Karmann factory and had originally a supercharged 4 banger, later offered in the VR6 as well. Car had some very good points, such as a stiff chassis and it was pretty much bullet proof, but it's down side was that it was heavy for it's size and based upon an already aging chassis. Neuspeed really modded a bunch of these and was one of the first ones to stuff a VR6 into one. Made over 400 safe HP. I had a '99 Jetta with a VR6, made VW and Porsche mag.

LOL, I can tell your age....VW&Porsche? Changed the name to European car in 92? And to the Corrado being bullitproof, the only other car in the shop more than the "C" would be a 944. Which issue was your car in Revo?

Sorry for the de-rail....welcome back Sgt...let us know when your selling the Mayhems!

For auto-x, you want a supercharger. You want smooth, constant power. Trying to corner on a short course with a turbo means most of the time it wouldn't be fully spooled and when it does kick in, the last thing you want to be doing is coming through a corner. SC all the way. What the heck class are you going to run with a FI miata with all those mods? If you use the SCCA class rulings, you may want to check to make sure you're not modding yourself into the bottom of a very high-powered class. I know with sciroccos/rabbits, once you add forced induction, you have to be prepared to make the car pretty much a serious race machine to stand a chance, since it puts you in the same class as 'vettes and porsches.

As for Vdubs, yeah I'm into them hardcore. The raddo was pretty nice, basically VW's next attempt at a sports car after the scirocco. However, the supercharger in them was crap and the VR6's are silly expensive for parts. They're definitely not what I would call reliable and bulletproof, but then most all VWs fit that bill. I own an 84 rabbit GTI and a highly modified 81 scirocco street/road track car.

got pics of the rabbit????
that's my favorite VW of alltime.....love that lil car...handles like it's on ski edges....

Nothing wrong w/ a turbo for autox if its set up properly......ask Corrado.........

hehe, my corrado which is now 16V turbo lays down the power very smoothly and quite controlled. i get less wheelspin with more power than my supercharged 8v setup. ill let you know how i like a 35shot of nitrous up till it hits 7psi. after that the nitrous kicks off and boost continues to climb to 15psi. should be setup with that at the next autoX i run on the 21st. the key to smooth power with a turbo setup, is high compression, good tuning, and a properly sized turbo.

Sorry but Sad's right. A super charger is more ideal for supercross. A turbo has to take the time to spool to get the power, where a supercharger is constant. Also theres something about a turbo sucking in air to produce power on a dusty autocross track that kinda freaks me out.

Not saying that there isnt turbos out there that do well, Just a supercharger is more ideal, more practical, and will be more efficient.

well, we're talking autocross. cones in a parking lot man, not bikes in dirt. and until you drive a properly setup turbo system, you wouldnt understand. i dont know what else to say to you guys, I've had BOTH. the turbo drives better.

It sounds good in theory, but real world tests are where its at. And I understand, but a supercharger is less efficent than a turbo, it has drag. You can have a turbo kick in at 2000 RPM's. Its all in the set-up.

Yes, a SC is considerably less efficent. And yes, a tiny turbo set to hit full boost at like 4k rpm would work okay. But with a roots type SC, you have boost at idle. You have a smooth, linear boost all the way to redline. An auto-x though is mostly low speed, lots of on/off throttle, meaning a turbo will constantly be spooling up and down, making the power a lot less efficent.

Corrado, of course you get more wheelspin with a SC than a turbo. You're feeding the car say 8psi as soon as you hit the gas with a SC. With a turbo, you're already rolling down the road before the power kicks in.
