Servo Problems

(Savage25) Ok guys bare with me on this remember this is a newbie question
ok i just got a new steering servo(hitec hs-322hd) and the main piece that the horn connects to(bare with me) is smaller than the one in the stock servo and the horn that came with the stock servo will not work now. none of the horns my new servo came with will work!
so what do i do now???

nope i dont gont any pics ummm here..... ok i dont know what it is called but the piece the servo horn connects onto is smaller on my new servo than it is on my old servo.
so now i can't use the old horn. now i dont know what i can use to set up the steering linkage

Your servo will (Should) come with a horn that has the proper servo spline size.
Different servo manufacturers use a different number of splines on their servos and supply a bag of different horns for you to use. Every servo I have purchased has a bag included with it. If it didn't come with them a simple trip to your LHS will cure this. I'm sure they have hundreds of them in a box under the counter.

First off, don't bother trying to install that servo in your savage. It won't budge the tires... it only has 50oz of torque with a 6v pack. You need at least 110-120oz just to be functional. More if you want it to be fun.

At least go with the hitec 645MG (130oz) or something more powerfull than that if you can afford it.

The 645MG comes with a big red X horn. You can use that or one of the others that come with it. You will have to modify the X horn to only have one ear on it. You will probably also need to drill out the hole so the bolt to your steering linkage can fit through it.

That's the most capable and proven servo for the price.
