I am wanting to get a set of servos for my mbx buggie. I am mainly wanting a moderate metal gear servo for the steering and for the throttle I want something that will squeeze the heck out of the brakes. I want to be able to stop on a dime. How much torque should I look for. I dont want to overkill it but I want to be able to use all the traction that I can get from all the wheels for stopping. I will be using a 6.0v battery pack.

I recommend some HiTec digital servos for your buggy needs. I am running a HS-5645MG for steering duty and a HS-5625 for throttle and brake duty in my Mugen MBX-5. Might seem like overkill but at the whopping price of $110 for both servos, I couldn't complain. Trust me, you will get the performance you desire.

I happen to run a fully synthesized set up (that means I get to dial in my freq and play where I choose within the 75Mhz FM band). It is not required, but it sure is nice.

To answer your question, NO.

The only recommendation that I would make would be to get a good humppack or rechargeable set up. Why? The digital servos will run on alkaline or dry cell batteries, but they tend to use up a lot of juice (or so I have been told...haven't had any problems with any of my alkaline set ups, yet).

So, I could run digital servo's with my JR 124 receiver?

Sorry, I just don't want to waste the money when the time comes that I need one.

I run home-made NiMH 5 cell 2100mah AA's. I have 3 packs to switch out with. Although my truck rarely makes it through the life of one before I call it a day or it breaks.

The only thing about your receiver that would make it not work with the digital servo would be if it appears on HiTec's list of incompatible equipment. Other than that, you should be good to go.

I ran the HiTec HS-5645MG on my stock TRAXXAS receiver (prior to going full synth on my T-Maxx). I ran it on my stock HPI receiver (prior to getting my synth receiver for my Savage). So I know they work with a ton of things because if they work on the TRAXXAS crap and work with the HPI stuff...they should be good to go. BUT check the HiTec site to make certain that they work well with the JR receivers, just in case.

You need to quit taking off for that military stuff. ...

No problem.

My wife would agree with you there for certain, but for entirely different reasons.
