I'm almost certain that my MGT 8.0 has an air leak so I want to seal it. According to the video on here it shows them only sealing the backplate and the carb intake on the block. Do I have to seal the needles as well? Which ones do I seal and which ones don't I seal? My last question is what do I use to seal it up? I've heard of the green slime but you don't get much for the money. Thanks in advance,Steve

You'll use the Green Slime for the carb needles. You use a good sensor-safe RTV Silicone that's available at most auto parts stores on everything else. Let it cure overnight for best results.

+1 on green slime, a little goes a long way.
As for silicone, I used a Loctite 5699 grey gasket maker.

I purchased some permatex ultra blue sensor safe rtv sealant and my lhs does not carry the green slime. Can I use the rtv in small amounts on the needles? Thanks for getting back to me, Steve

I wouldn't do that! I'm not the most experienced but that just sounds bad. When I sealed my engine I used some RTV on my HSN assembly. Where ther wasn't an o ring and I also sealed the piece the fuel line attaches to. I also sealed the pinch bolt that holds the carb. I've read else where that there is some sort of silicone lube you could get from an auto store. But not enough good feed back for me to try it. So I haven't sealed my needles yet.

I'm going to purchase the green slime from online to play it safe.

Green Slime can also be used when rebuilding shocks or other things with O-rings. It's something to keep in your RC toolkit.
