OK, I am fed up at failing to make acceptable polycarbonate screens so have trimmed the ‘mirror tint’ version of the screen and drilled the holes in the bodywork to mount it. We are now ready for paint! And when I say paint I mean colour, this is not going to be a work of art.

Quick coats of under coat, followed by satin black for the insides and then the first coat of green.

Tbh, I’m not completely happy with the colour, hopefully it will appear darker with a couple of coats, may be red would have been better?

Might not be british racing green like you were hoping for, but it looks good. I think you will like it more when you get it all put back together.
To be fair I just picked the one I liked off the shelf at the motor factors under the shop lighting.
I noticed it looked lighter when I got it outside!

Hey it’s green and it’s better than plain GRP

I’m going to paint the nostril white, I think!

Just thought of something. If you do the black stripes, what if you painted the windshield with some window tinting paint for a black chrome look? 🤔

First I need to find the rolls of black stripe and masking tape, I have a feeling I left them in my RV/motor home to do a job, I hate buying more stuff when I know I have some.

Edit: too lazy (actually it’s a two hour round trip to check) to go and look in my RV, bought some more black stripe tape. Amazon 1: wallet 0 :0(

I'd like to apologize, I'm sure that laziness must have rubbed off of me.

Two coats of metallic green applied (tick), then a suitable couple of days drying time, masked off for two coats of white around the nostril (tick) plus a few days of drying time.
One coat of clear lacquer applied over the top (oh dear!) lacquer was not compatible with the gloss white modelling paint, 30 seconds in and I have an undesirable wrinkle effect on the white :0(

What was a simple and short job to apply the lacquer ended up being an age cleaning off the wrinkled white paint!

So I have decided to paint the nostril the more usual yellow. I now have to wait for the lacquer to dry before masking off again.
Such a shame, it was looking really sharp up front, LOL in my mind!

No photos, I’m just too embarrassed
