Hey all.
Interested in doing a scale build with my soon to be 9yr old son.
He's currently interested in scale crawlers.

So many options for competion kits but not sure what would make a good platform for a scale crawler.

Looking at things like trx4 kit.
Looks like Axial uses to sell a 'more complete' scale kit with body. Prefer to not have to piece everything together on this first build. (Impatient 9yr old, impatient 50+ yr old lol. And we live pretty remote so everythings gotta be shipped in)

Any recommendations much appreciated.

I don't know much about crawlers, but from what I have heard, if you want a performer and have a good budget, look at vanquish

Yeah I've been looking st the h10 kit for myself
I'm not sure which kit would be best. I'm guessing the VRD

Also not sure if that will be too advanced for him build wise...
showed him how to rebuild his own shocks on his Arrma. He was so proud of himself after it was awesome to see.

The trx4 kit would probably be the easiest kit for a younger one to build. It comes with everything but a body and batteries/charger. Granted they will just be rtr electronics included.

Vrd is a comp rig.

How far down the scale hole do you want to go 😅. I got 3 of them in the works currently 😂

Oh geez, I didn't see he's the one who would be building it! Yeah, trx4 kit would be best is my guess

I have a TRX4 scaler that I have been working on for quite a while now. They have all kinds of features, are pretty easy to work on and there is no limit to what you can do with them.
There are still loads of scale stuff you can buy for them.
I suggest getting into 3D printing also. There are tons of free stuff you can download or it you can design anything you need and print it. Your son is the perfect age to start learning this stuff and if he knows how to print, he will have an advantage over is mates at school.
Good luck with everything.

Thanks I didn't think about that

I actually do have an older 3d printer. I used to tinker with before my son got me back into RC.

Love the defender!

3D printing has come a long way in the last couple of years. It is pretty much click and print nowadays. Look into Bambu Lab. I use a X1C and it is indispensable to me.
Thanks!
