Hello,

I'm J.T. and I'm a Savaholic...

Its been 27 hours since I last drove one of my trucks and I'm having really bad cravings...

I have a Savage X 4.1 that is stock for the moment. "Still has stock HPI servos"
Soon to have:
Maximizer beadlocks with Dirt Bonz, HPI polished pipe and I'm switching it over to pull start. Running a Trinity 1600 hump pack.

I also have a Savage X 4.6 with:
Maximizer beadlocks with Pro-Line Masher tires, Futaba S3305 servos and Trinity 1600 hump pack.

What are you guys runnin?

Savage XL in standard width. Flux shocks, JR DS8711 steering servo, JR DS821 throttle/brake servo, Orion 1600mah receiver pack, Ofna linkage kit, BP diffs, LRP .30, Aluminum clutch shoes, And i think thats about it..

The urge to drive will eventually come with ebbs and flows... I think I've been bashing since 2001. Started with a xxx-nt RTR as my first "hobby grade" rc.

I was like you back then. Was taking it to work to run it after work in the parking lot every night before I got home because I just "NEEDED" to run it...

Now I have 5 vehicles, 4 running, micro-t broke, sitting on a shelf waiting for me to run them.

One of which is a heavily modified savage.
3-speed
HB 1" extended chassis
LRP28S3
Alloy diff cases/halves
X diffs (machined vs cast, came out before BP did)
Steel roll bars
high end servos
polished pipe
17mm wheels/tires

Last time I drove it was last spring. Now it just sits... When I do go out, I run my revo (also running a 3.3 chassis w/LRP28S3 in it and many other mods) or my Baja 5BSS. But that was easily a month ago.

I'm looking forward to the day when I "need" to run them again.

Don't lose your zeal!

Thanks olds97_lss :)

I've been into the R/C hobby for twenty years now and just love it, its my drug and I don't think I will ever get enough lol

I have had pretty much all forms of R/C and I have been through ups and downs. At one point I had 5 touring cars, 3 sc trucks and 2 monsters that just sat. Well I would run the TC's and the SC trucks if I could get together with my Dad to race/bash. All of those vehicles were electric and I was amazed with the advances in batteries and motors, "I never thought I would run nitro again."

I had a TMaxx and a few RS4's back in the day, I even had a Ofna Monster Blazer lol

I always either get bored or need a new "fix" so I have gone from electric to nitro, then back to electric, then to small planes and electric heli's and now I'm back into nitro, but this time I'm really lovin it... It might be because I'm little older and I understand more now, added with the fact that mills are huge now and have great reliability. "I remeber when the O.S. .21RG was the best affordable engine around lol

I don't see myself getting rid of my Savages, I just wanna bash em and then clean em and put new goodies on em and then bash em again :)

Looks like you have an awesome stable of R/C's, I would love to hang out and bash with the members on here!!!

How much wider and longer is your Savage MudSlinger33?

Sounds like another sweet rig!!!

I really like the inch that I gained in width with my Maximizer rims... Makes a world of difference :)

I can't wait to get a set for my 4.1

I've had my Savage S-25 since 2006 or so. I last ran it about six months ago. Not because I don't want to, or bored, or it's broken, but mainly due to time constraints. My drive to work gets me home late and my career means bringing a lot of work home, so I don't get to run it as much. I also need to get a new sport pack for the rotostart and a new glow ignitor. The ones I have are old enough to not last the day, which makes remote bashing hard at a park or something. I'm a big onroad guy, but don't run them much because no access to an onroad track, so it gets boring running my modded RS4 Evo or my Sprint 2 Flux up and down the street. I've got nine vehicles now, a good mix of electric and nitro and lately due to the time constraints I mentioned I'm grabbing my electric stuff for a quick fix, including my Traxxas Summit instead of the Savy.

Anyway, my Savy is modded as follows:

HPI black/purple flamed TVPs
HPI purple roll bar
HPI polished pipe
HPI hump pack
HiTech 645MG steering servo with HPI cam servo saver
HPI metal gear conversion for stock steering servo and relocated to throttle/brake duties
Three speed trans with reverse module in a Savy-X trans case
Four-spider gear diff upgrade (shimmed and filled with silicone fluid)
HPI stainless dual disc brake system
HPI engine stop system
Ofna failsafe
Ofna fuel filter

Still in the box: HPI .28 4.6 motor to upgrade the stock .25/4.1 someday

Keep the spirit dude!

Mark

I still run the old .25 platform. I have a few mods, what i can remember:
STS .28
Robinson Racing Vented Flywheel
Robinson Racing Clutchbell
Robinson Racing Steel Spur Gear
Integy Aluminum Clutch Shoes
Fantom Steel Pipe
X Diff set
Titanium Roll Bar
Titanium Dogbones(rear only)
JR Steering Servo
Imex Dirt Dawg Tires

But I'm out of fuel and no time to run it so it has sat since March.

Awesome trucks guys :)

Thanks for sharing, we all love this hobby for one reason or another and sharing is key. I wouldn't be in this hobby if it weren't for the guys that showed me stuff when I was young. Getting help at the track from racers, having my Dad show me what tools to use on my Kyosho Big Brute when I was 12 and on and on...

Thanks again,

J.T.

STS .28
FLM reg length LCG TVPs
HPI Big Bore shocks
Platinum RC Products CF midtank plate
Futaba 3305 steering servo
Ofna 250cc fuel tank
Motorsaver air filter
RPM RC10GT receiver box
Traxxas rustler battery box?? I don't remeber.

That's a nice rig samrsnow...

What do you think of the big bores?

I'm thinking about upgrading my pipe to a JP down the road and know if I run the big bores that I can also fit the JP manifold.

Thanks for the tip on the shocks.

$56.00 for the sport big bores and $90.00 for the aluminum isn't a bad deal.

What weight oil are you running front and rear if you don't mind me asking?

Sweet, my list keeps getting bigger for stuff to order lol

I'm sure my wifey won't be happy about all of the goodies I get for my trucks, but it will be hard to hear her when I fire them up :)

I remeber when the O.S. .21RG was the best affordable engine around lol

I've had 3 of those as well! lol
First one was in a BB t-maxx conversion I had. Second was in a savage, 3rd was in a BB revo. Old engine, not real strong, low revs, but hella reliable and would hold a tune all summer long!

Big Bores are a hundred times better than the stock shocks, it handles a lot better.

How do they handle the "big" air a savage can normally take? Any snapping off of ends or bending of shocks? I thought getting those for mine. Way back in the day, I ran 1/8 scale OFNA 9.5 buggy rear shocks on my savage with some aftermarket towers. Although, I ran 8 of them. Total overkill, but was hard to find springs that were stiff enough to support just 4. I could drop that thing off a building and it would land soft!

The big bores have held up fine for me. The shafts are twice as thick and will take the abuse. I kept snapping the shafts on the stock 8 shocks which is why I switched to the BB.
