I know there is a post on here somewhere about this but i can't find it, i got my savage out today and started it up, it got to 235 degrees and it will not take off without falling on its face, when it takes off i have good smoke and it does great......seems to be too rich for wheelies....could this be my lsn too lean and my hsn too rich.....teh temp never got above 235-240 thru 2 tanks of fuel....someone have any advice.

those temps arent dangerous really.. thats what i run at and some other members on here run even hotter. I personally dont like to go over 250 but your running temps arent dangerous.

I always tell people before i give any tuning advice is your altitude is just about everything when tuning. Reason being is every 1000 ft you are above sea level is less air there for needing leaner conditions.. my little thing i say * less air less fuel(higher alt)-more air more fuel(sea level or lower alt) *

If you can tell me where your altitude is or somewhere near it i can give advice. The fact is, is that anyone that tries to give you tuning advice with out knowing your altitude is technically wrong. Most people will tell you " go to your factory needle settings " well.. the factory needle settings are useless if your up in the mountains.

For instance my savage when it came in the mail i pulled it out of the box tried to start it with factory needles and literally it flooded with in the first 5 seconds of cranking over. so i instantly leaned the HSN about half a turn and ran perfect.

I'm in the mountains of NC.....2200 to 2500 ft.....it does great when it turns up...has alot of smoke so i know its a little on the rich side.....however the take off has me stumped.....if i go richer on lsn i will have to go leaner on hsn right?

ok so thats about half of my altitude so i would say if your at factory settings maybe alittle less than half a turn on HSN, then maybe 8th of a turn in on the LSN. that would be probably the lower performance settings but you always wanna make your adjustments while running . take it for some top speed runs and bring it back while its idling lean the HSN little more untill your truck is basically cutting out and then just make it slightly richer and it should be at its top performance. then do the same thing to LSN.
