The 2011 version of the savage came with the diffs and the brake pads.

So how is the motor in the ss kit better than the rtr i thought the only real diff was the color of the head and the pipe. just curious

When i do buy tho I'm buying the kit i like the idea of the build alot more than unbox and go plus like i said b4 I've never even messed with a savage so it would be good experience. and the kit has some upgrades that i like more than the rtr big bore shocks or the only other thing id like to have on the kit and bullet proofs but i would be upgrading shocks at somepoint anyways and for 55 bucks on the diffs thats to cheap to justify sacraficing all the other hop ups the ss kit has

Thanks for all the input guys its deff helped me make my mind up

in my opinion: adjustable arms are good for only 1 thing. taking apart and making turnbuckles out of them. hpi pipe (either plastic or polished) will get replaced for a better one when i replace the motor with LRP, picco, or novarossi (makes motor mute). never had problems with plastic spur, and if i do, they are cheaper to replace than metal. big bore shocks are better than 8 shock setup. so yes, RTR is the better buy at 30-50 more. but that being said: either truck is a good buy, it still says SAVAGE on the TVP'S

X rtr has F 4.6 which is an Ofna force .28 motor rebadged as a hpi motor
X SS has K4.6 which is a nitrostar motor.

i dont buy trucks retail anymore as i usually end up replacing alot of the parts soon after i buy it anyway. so i find it better to just buy rollers and parts lots off epig and make the sum of the difference of parts from my own inventory or from the numerous chop shops on epig

The rtr has some cool upgrades, the ss is kind of old school. The rtr also has quite a few items that can be sold off like EH 23 said.
IMO the rtr is a no-brainer.

The enjoyment of putting a kit together is well worth it to me. I just finished a older Savage SS kit and upgraded to the K4.6 engine, it came with the 4.1 keeping it for a spare for my savage X truck. I always enjoy building just as much as bashing. Building the truck gives you insight on how to upgrade and wrench on it later. Either way enjoy the hobby. and anyone who dislikes the K4.6 which I have heard alot of bad things, my brother has run around 4 gal of fuel with no problem other than a leak at the back plate, and his truck has way more power than it needs.

never run a K46.
my lineup is as follows. XL/novarossi 7t-RS, XL/LRP32,X/picco 28,X/OS30VG,Flux/Tekin,Flux XS and the trailor queen...aluminum FLM/Integy Ext chassis/losi 454.

have 4 other savages up for sale, but they stock, and a couple rollers to be put up on auction block in a few days
