HEY,
wondering if the savage was worth all the money thinking of geting one in the future.... and seeing if it has any major flaws, and were i can get one the cheapest ??
thanks-

I recently purchased a Savage. I am very pleased with it. As far as any flaws I would recommend the 4 spider gear mod, a motor saver air filter and steering bearing upgrade. Other than that the Savage is a very good truck. It can take a beating and still run. Tower Hobby has them pretty cheap. If you plan on building your own its $319.99 or if you want it RTR its $399.99. In either case you are still going to have to buy a glow igniter, glow plug wrench, fuel, fuel bottle. If you plan on building your own you will also need a radio controller, servo's and a reciever battery.

i guess theres no way to excape the price, lol oh well ill see what happens thanks alot for your help guys,

thanks-

lol what kind of question is that. :wtf:

worth the money???? helllll yeahhhh
i own the savage ss. and let me say this. there are no flaws.
i bashed that thing up the ramp like it was a 1 dollar car and didnt care if it broke. after 30 jumps of 6 meter high, my right suspension was hanging down. i was like :OMG: i broke it. only to find out i lost 1 screw and not braking anything.

go get one... www.towerhobbies.com

Definetely get one, well worth your money and actually they are realatively cheap compared to some other trucks like the Revo.

tower hobbies has $30 off ($300-399) or $40 off ($400-500) so its $369 plus 8 shipping for 25 RTR.

People people poeple! Savge people are going to rave about thiers and so goes on with Tmaxx, Revo, Truggies and so on. If you really want ato know whats up with a particular ride then try looking in the other tmaxx, savage etc threads in this forum. You will see that all the trucks eventually break. By doing this you can figure out what is vulnerable to the particular ride and how it has put up with different rides. I have driven the savage and its a great ride. I don't own one as I am loving my buggies and sirio 23 maxx

Thems fighten words! :boxing:

I aggree with Jon2 though. Look around, figure out what you really want and what you really want to do with it. Just don't impulse buy. Also, you can't buy much of anything worth having for much less than $400 new.

If your into complete off road, never going to see a track, then then the savage is probably what you want. If you have a track near by and will more than likely end up there, the revo is probably what you want.

Then, if you want a headache... get a maxx!

(Previous maxx owner converted to savage owner)

I definitely agree that the Savage is a great truck but also everyone else's different truck is great to them.
I have a Savage that I got as an RTR. Price for tons of trucks out there are pretty good but your forgetting to add to your cost for the amount of hop ups you will want once you see what's available and what can make your truck more better than the one bashing or racing next to you. $$$ in hop ups will increase that $400 RTR truck to $600++++

Then, if you want a headache... get a maxx! hahaha i know right, yea well now you got me thinking olds, about that revo.... i do have a track 15 min. away from me.... and i have seen the revo in action and let me tell you i was drooling... but now the question is revo? is that worth it i dont know anything about it, guess ill start posting on the revo forum...see i wannted to get the xxx-nt to race with it but then i thought SAVAGE!!! I've alwasy wanted one, but the revo, if its kinnda race worthly... then yea OH man I'm i confused big time!!! lol well i think ill check out the revos specs,

theres a great video of the revo on www.slapmafro.com too!! check it out!

thanks-

Like I said, the revo is good for racing and bashing depending on where you have to bash. If you have dirt to play in, then it would be fine. I just wouldn't suggest it if your going to spend most of your time in grass for 2 reasons. It sits kind of low for a MT and the engine just isn't strong enough for me in the grass.

The savage can be set up to race, but it takes some $ and quite a bit of thought to make it good and competitive, but I doubt you'd ever be able to out race a revo on a track.

This is just my opinion of course, but I've downloaded a lot of movies and read a lot of posts and info about the revo and the savage.

I've downloaded every movie from slapmafro... they take some good movies.

You may want to check out RCPics.com as well. Just do a search for revo. I posted a thread a week or two ago about a kid that was just thrashing his revo here in my town at a skate park. I wish I could have been there to watch. It did really well, but it was concrete, so there wasn't much resistance from the terrain to work the engine really hard. The kid posted the movies at RCPics and I watched them... All I know is I'd never hand my truck over to him!

yea man, smf is great, good movies all around, yea i dont realy run in grass, i dont like it mostly dirt and some street, you know, and my LHS track isnt wicked hardcore about letting people race there cars, just last weekend they was a RC10, some 1/8 buggy and a t-maxx messing around, basicly if you have a car, you can go mess around at the track, they host very few "real" races, but yea looks like the revo is my new thing... i was looking at pics of it and the hole suspention, and arms look alittle weak to me, and do you kno why the engine sits croked? no big deal it looks kinnda cool, j/w about that ,
thanks-

It's to make it more accessable for a bump starter box instead of using the pull start. Very few true "MT's" allow the use of a bump start because of how the engine is situated in the chassis.

For most guys who race other vehicles (ST's, buggies and SUT's), they don't run an engine with a pullstart or electric start of any kind. Those things just cause more rotational mass and add weight to the vehicle. Traxxas is trying to cater to the racers.

With a non pull/electric start engine, you don't have a one way, starter shaft or a starter housing. When you run a pull/electric start engine, there's a shaft that is semi connected to the crank shaft that spins all the time, which is why there is a need for a one way. This shaft adds your rotational mass. In some cases, the one-way is inside the crank case and it spins as a whole on the shaft instead. The thought on this is that it wastes power and slows down the RPM spool up, and as I said, adds unnecessary weight.

I'm think'en REVO!!!! lol i dunno I'm a mess now. knowing me ill wake up tomorrow and want a xxx-nt

AHHHHH revo was my way to go.... but then i saw the running gear,,, if you look at the suspention and the hole get up that stuff looks WEAK!! savage, is nice 8 shocks!!! nothings going wrong with that!!!! and people praze it..... right now the score is SAVAGE 100 revo -12 LOL thanks

And the savage is 1/8th scale!!! i can't belive what i was thinking I'm like having a break threw! the savage is nasty...!! "dear santa.... i want a SAVAGE!"
