I'm looking into getting a monster truck, and i am leaning towards the savage, but I was wondering which car is better. Money is not an issue.

It depends on what you want to do with it. Do you plan to race at all? If so go with the revo. If all you want to do is bash go with a Savage.

Do a search and you will find this question as been asked and discussed many times.

yes AC48 is right. the way i look at it is......in racing, with a savage you will have to spend a little bit more to help it contend with the revo. in bashing, with a revo you will have to spend a little bit more to be as strong or durable as the savage. i have owned a couple of savages but never a revo. my bud has a revo. but it all depends on what you want to do.

I havnt seen one of thes threads in a long time..lol.. Ac's right on. Revos tend to be more race savy, and the savage seems more basher worthy. I own a savage and know its damn near industructable and a blast to drive, but I know a Revo would eat me up on a track.

Yea, it all depends...but the savage can be a racer...I have spent quite a lot on mine, and I believe it can compete with a revo, but mostly because I'm a better driver than most in my class.

To race the savage, the main things it needs are: (certain versions of the savage may already have some of these)

cam-type servo saver
racing tires
high-torque steering servo
brake upgrade
new engine (if it has the S-25)
Ofna throttle linkage
rechargeable RX pack
4-gear spider diff mod
some other little, cheap mods

then other stuff which would greatly help but restrains it to almost all racer IMO:

lcg TVP's
Nova shock towers
1/8 buggy shocks

I currently have all that and more on my first list and am thinking about getting the other stuff as well...but I am getting ready to move, so I'll see how the track there is first and see what I want to race primarily..
Also, mine has been giving me some...difficulties... I'm still trying to hammer out...

Also, the LST is a great truck for both, I'd reccomend some RPM A-arms though, but it needs very little out of the box to be competitive...

I am racing againts a tmaxx 2.5r and i was wondering what would win in a drag race the savage or the tmaxx?

Well, back when I dragged my friend and his t-maxx 2.5 w/ my savage w/ the S-25, he won, by a good amount...the t-maxx is a much lighter truck (as is the revo). But with my new Axial .28, I think it'd be close.
I think it'd beat the savage w/ the hpi .28 too. A while ago, XRC did a comparo between the t-maxx 3.3 and savage X. The t-maxx barely won overall, and did better in most performace tests.

whats with the noobs worrying about fricken speed lately?? Dont take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to be a dink but poop.. Theres ALOT of other things to look for that are more important than how fast it goes. I would be willing to bet the the fastest, most reliable R/c on the market, doesn't advertise its speed on the box. Only low rent companies that have nothing else to offer feel they have to lure people in with high speed numbers on the boxes. You can have the fastest rig out there, but if theres a better driver out there with a rig that handles good, he's going to beat you.

So Traxxas and HPI are low rent companies?

After owning both I rather my Revo 3.3, although I do miss the Savage 4.6 sometimes.

Wow another Savage v Revo thread, imagine that. I'll throw my :2cents: in and say this, the Savage that was in my way on the track yesterday wasn't in my way very long. It was classic Jeff Gordon, wish I had video of it!

Well Hpi isnt, but they also dont put a big star in bold colors with the top speed nuumbers inside of it. Look at Cen, and Smartech. Whats the 1st thing that will catch your eye on the box? The Cen claiming the car goes 70mph in big neon colors, or smartech claiming 60mph..
Ill admit, my 1st rc was a 4 tech and the thing that caught my eye and probably sold it to me was the fact that it claimed to go 60mph right out of the box. It probably did go 60mph but also steared like a brick with wood wheels. Was a poopy car and almost made me quit the hobby.
I just dont like it when the 1st thing a company will mention is speed. I think if thats what they concentrate on the most, it has issues elswere. Theres alot of other poop to worry about and consider when buying a r/c.

Hell, I'm just impressed you got one of your rigs to actually run in a race! Good for you, Chet!

It's like today at work...we just got in the Jato 3.3 and some dude saw the 65mph or w/e they claim, and was like, "dude, I should buy that, it's basically a buggy and it could beat anything out there on the track for the races..."

I didn't even bother wasting my breath...

The box for the 4.6 Savy had big numbers that said 45+ mph, not sure about the reast of there rc's.
