once tuned it runs so rich when full that it bogs and wont shift, at half full it runs great, then at about one third full the idel increases so much that i have to ride the brake. i have an ofna gtp but dont want to switch tanks yet , avy sugestions?

From what I've read, that's the nature of the tank. Tune it to run half full, then don't fill it all the way.

I've converted to the 125cc ofna tank and haven't had any real problems since. Except on humid days like today... I hit 290.

I just put the RTR25 tank on mine and ran about three tanks on it. I haven't noticed a real lean condition near the end of the tank like the stock SS one. It seems much more consistent. If you don't want to mod to use a 1/8 buggy tank I'd suggest the RTR25 tank.

I'm in the middle of making a aluminium tank base on the RTR one ill post some pic soon

yours may have a leak somewhere i'd start by checking for leaks before you do any mods

Having the same issue w/ my savage SS. Is the RTR tank the best fix or is there a better tank out there ?

Look at my post up above... You have to make some little metal brackets, but they are pretty simple. Just a couple pieces of angle with a couple holes drilled in it.

That tank works really well. I've mod'd my maxx to run the same tank as well. I get a little leaning effect when the tank is almost empty, but I think that happens with pretty much anything. Just when you mount the tank, mount it with the fuel pickup towards the rear of the truck.

BTW, this is the tank:OFNA 125cc Tank

I have the primerless Savage 25 RTR tank on my new SS and I have not noticed a change in tune while running the tank from totally full to empty. When it runs completely out of fuel it runs a little leaner (revs a little higher) for about 5-10 seconds and then shuts off. The only way to avoid that is do not allow the tank to run bone dry. ;)

I had the same problem with the stock .21 tank as well. I think the primer had air leaks as well. I wound up wasting my one way bearing because it was so bad . after upgrading to the primerless tank no consistency problems at all..
