You to a certain extent. In the instructions it will tell you to put spacers ontop of the springs to raise the truck for off road driving. You can take them out to get better onroad performance but the savage is really meant for off road.

You could also buy special Nova (I think) shock towers, or New Era upper suspension arms and run 1/8 Buggy shocks for better on road performance.
