I completely agree with Vince.
I bought a maxx, it broke a lot. Within the first gallon or so of its life, I broke 4 shocktowers, 3 sets of front arms, shelled 2 diffs, blew the trans apart, ate up a couple spur gears, broke 2 gas tanks, broke 3 front skids (not the part that sticks up, the part that holds the front end on), 4 sets of front bulks, 2 sets of rear bulks, 3 stock shocks and I got rid of the 2.5 engine(it sucked). I kept a tally of what broke just to see what parts I needed to have on hand most. Unfortunatly, I almost needed a whole other maxx on hand to make it through a weekend.
As for my savage, it was a roller when I got it. No radio or engine. I've run 2 gallons through that truck and all I've really broken was the shocks, but they were aftermarket HotBodies shocks that came on the roller. Granted, the savage came with a few hop ups already, like the shocks, HB cvd's, 4 gear diff mod (thanks Sky!) and the duel brake disk upgrade. Other than the engine and electronics, I've done about $200 worth of upgrades to it just to avoid headaches. I bought lunsford titanium turnbuckles(Thanks again Sky), UE SuperMaxx shocks, New Era upper arms for t-maxx length shocks and I've replaced the fuel tank with a buggy tank.
I'm a basher only. Quite a bit of air (5 foot height average), a lot of grass driving, some minor hill climbing... nothing to out of the ordinary.
All the parts that broke on the maxx, I've upgraded at least once. RPM arms and towers, ACNCM bulks, integy bulks(suck, don't waste your money), SuperMaxx Shocks(kick ass, spend the $), XTM 21 conversion, integy diff cases, maximizer diff cups, RC solutions steel skids, RD Logics CVD's, Racers Edge Al trans case, RRP trans gears, buggy fuel tank, New Era Roll bar... can't think of much else, but I've spent a lot. Now it will make it through a weekend or two, but generally still needs some attention before every play day.
WOW... Sorry, I didn't realize I had typed that much...
