I was just out with a couple of guys that own these,& one is having steering trouble.Should the stock servo turn the wheels w/o the truck moving?Neither truck does,& one loses his steering capabilities while driving,it comes and goes,do you think this might be a servo problem or poor adjustment?(the trucks were sitting on smooth concrete)

thanks in advance from a total newbie

Sounds more like he has some binding or his batteries are on thier way out.

Unless you have a really high torque servo (>140oz) then they really don't move the tires when they are on the ground and the truck isn't moving. Even with a higher torque servo, your putting such a strain on every thing, it isn't advisable to sit still and crank the wheel back and forth. Unless you have a good servo saver. And depending on how much give your servo saver allows, it may just turn the inner workings of the saver and still not turn the tires.

Thanks,I'll pass it on,they're newbies to the sport also. And not having a LHS to bounce ideas off of it's trial and error. One of the guys stripped a spur gear driving in really tall grass,I already knew what happened just from reading the posts on this forum for a few days. It's a valuable tool for newcomers.

I don't have the savage, but I have two maxxes that I've been messing around with for about 2 years.

Their servo's may actually be dieing as well. They do wear out over time.

I do own a savage and I am into racing and ill tell you my 25 had the servo stripped out of it after 1 month . I had the same prob I just lost steering all the sudden . I can also tell you I replaced that 10 cent stock servo with an digital airtronics 200oz metal gear z servo($110) ouch! and I barely get my wheels to turn on smooth concrete? But when I'm movin look out scout! :moped:

Ummm did you up the voltage in the battery department?? Unless you were already running a 6Volt hump pack. If you didn't than you aren't getting the full potential of the servo you are using. Two other things you could do is dump the stock servo saver as it is junk and there is a hell of a lot of play in it. Also I would look into either getting some bearings to make the bell cranks smoother or dumping them all together and getting the monster pirate servo saver setup.

Do the mp servo saver mod and you won't regret it. My airtronics will turn the stock tires standing still and they're soft and grippy.
