Hey guys, I'm new here, but not new to r/c. I'm 15 years old and have been into rc for about 3 or 4 years. I was wondering, since everyone makes aluminum hop-ups for all drivetrain parts on the nitro rustler, except for the tranny. What happens when you have all of those hop-ups, how can you protect your transmission from all the torque. Maybe someone has a metal tranny set-up or something? I have the picco .21 currently strapped on :naughty: .I can imagine the .21 ripping the gears right out. Thanx.

I don't think anyone makes metal tranny gears for the Nitro rustler. Did you get the New Era conversion?

I had almost ever aluminum upgrade for the rustler and had no problem.

conversion

Ya i got the conversion, but the clutch bell doesn't fully mesh with the spurgear. I think the .21 maxx enigine i got has a different driveshaft than wut it rly needs. I'm still waiting for replies from new era on that one. I have my rustler decked out pretty good in aluminum, but I'm just worried that maybe sumtime in the future ill get all the aluminum drivetrain parts. And then again i do have that .21 it has 1 more hp than the stock 2.5, so it could get ugly.

Why doesn't the clutch bell mesh up with the spur? Is the carb hitting the tranny? If so, you may need to get a bigger clutch bell, because you will not be able to keep that front end on the ground (i know, i have a .21 in my rc10gt.).

well the setup came with shims the go beind the clutch collar thing, and that pushes everything out. But when all the stuff is on, there is no more driveshaft left for the e-clip to clip on, nothing is hittin, it all is just a little short.

ya i just came home, and got the e-mail. i was wondering wut that was for lol

lol, yeah i didnt know what those were for when i bought my first .21. Do the gear mesh now? I may have to try this conversion on my future rustler.

ya it's amount 7/8 meshing, good enough. I just ran through 2 tanks, and man that thing is loud. Alot more porformance, pretty wicked. :)
