what motor/esc do you have in it? with the stock esc you can run a 2s lipo or a 7 cell nimh. the velineon system can run a 3s lipo or a 7 cell nimh

If it's the velenion you'll be fine on 9 cell nimh. It's all about the volts. Why would it be fine with a 11.1 volt lipo and only a 8.4 volt nimh? Your batteries will last as long as your wallets deep. Get as many mah as you can.
