like 10 mins ago i was in the grass with my nitro rustler and out of nowhere it just stops all acceleration still idling tho. I picked it up and the wheels spin when on throttle but not on the ground when the car is on its own weight. Does anyone know what i can do or start from somewhere to figure this out.

probably just the slipper clutch

i tightened it then it moved once again but then it stopped again because i thought i might have tightened it up to much so i stopped the car and made it a bit loser. i turned the car on it didnt move so i powered off and tightened it back to where it was. fired it up and it didnt move what now?

Loose slipper clutch would be my first guess.

Spin the spur by hand and follow the drive line. With the truck off, set it down and spin the spur. Look at the drive shafts and see where the rotation stops. Could be a broken drive cup. Where the driveshafts connect to the tranny. May be a bad hex or missing pin as well.

is there a certain way to tighten the slipper clutch like the high flow needle

example tighten all the way then loosen a certain amount like 1/4 turn

That's how you adjust the old style slipper for a starting point. If you have the spur that takes the red pegs and has a steel pad on either side, adjust it how you described.

so i took it apart and noticed those red pegs and the spur gear itself looks like the side closest to the motor got ripped up a bit. anyways i put it back together and tightened it all the way and loosened a 1/4 turn works great. thank you very much.

Depending on how long it had been slipping, the spur gear may be worn too much in the center. I recommend getting a new spur gear and friction pegs, that way if it starts slipping again you already have the replacement parts and your down time is limited. I also have the Rustler and it is probably my favorite basher, it can take just about anything I throw at it. If you notice you're going through drive shafts, I recommend the rear shafts from the Slash 4x4, it'll be about $20 but they are a lot stronger.
