So i got a revo 3.3 engine from a friend and it doeesnt have a flywheel. I want to make sure that its gona run before i buy a flywheel. My question is can i start it with out a flywheel on it.

You should be able to look it over and determine if it will run. Running without a fly is possible but your front bearing can fall out and if it does then you're in trouble.

but i tried to fire it up and it would run for a few seconds and die. it also wouldnt take any throttle

The flywheel adds balance and inertia to it, so it will be pretty flaky without the extra rotational mass a flywheel adds. If it has decent compression, isn't caked with dirt/grease and runs, then it's good enough to buy. I just wouldn't spend much on it.
