2] i have never had an on-road car and am getting this one am i in over my head are will i be ok
3] its for mainly bashing i wont race anything till i get some contorl
4] can it be set up to handel the power of the .18
5] is the dang thing fast =)

Thanks for any help and comments

i had one, only with a 12 race engine. just as fast as that 18

1) yess its durable. wont brake fast
2) if ya want to bassh only, this is the car. easy to build and to clean.
3) you can't race with that 18 engine. ilegal.
4) i think you wil get stronger dog bones in the package. so the car can handle the 18engine. dont worry about it.
5) dang is fast. at least mine was. very very fast.

i think you wil be happy with it. expecially if its your first onroad nitro car. it was my first one and had a lot of fun with it.
i now own a savage ss and a trinity g4.

have fun with it

There was one at the track. It is NOT that fast at all; in fact i thought it was pretty slow and yes it was with the .18 engine. Top speed must have been 45-50. If you really want quality and speed, go for the GT4 Street by Yokomo (or the RTR II, virtually same thing only the GT4 Street is in kit form). 60mph+ out of the box. Comes with a .18. It smokes the RS4 bit time, and it is very very slower than a Serpent 710 with a Novarossi. But thats just because it has more power and is outclassed by it.

Also heres a question, do you have a track nearby? Coz ig you do your going to want to race there as soon as you got used to your RC. And if you do have a track nearby get a car that can get a .12 with a slide carb coz it makes getting a new engine real easy.

For pure hardcore racing: 710 Serpent (Top notch!!)
For leisure/club racing: GT4, HPI RS4 (I never said it was a bad car! :) )
For bashing: As long as it has for wheels!! Nah, if its for bashing anything is good, no restrictions unless yuo have some kind of an RC regulation wherever you live  :jk:

If you want to know where I got all of this info......I've driven them all at a track with lap-timing under the same conditions and tuned at their best :smoke:

If you want to you can contact me by Messenger or email: [email protected] (this goes for anyone else who want to :) )

gt4 racer. your info is wrong, its not relevant and you are comparing a serpent+novarossi engine to street cars.. everyone knows you can't do that.

the 18 engine from hpi does 46mph in the mt2 ofroad car driving onroad. lasered.
you say the speed must have been. you didnt even know for sure.
an 18 engine in a onroad car should do 55/60 mph
dont go claiming stuff you dont know for sure.

thanks for all the info . Didnt meant to start anything . But thanks for keeping me straight . Speed is not my main goal its control all the RC cars are relatively fast and your conrol is slow when you first start so thats what i am more concered about.

True, but the original thread was talking about the complete kit (with its gearing, etc..)

IMO you could buy a cheaper kit. send the engine in to HPI. and read the hpi online manual for the part # of the gears and thats it.. those are the only 2 main differences between the new one and the old ones that they mention.

Old Kit:

New kit:

Starting with the new kit for $70 more is certain a better value. You get the bigger motor, updated ratios, HD final drive gears, HD cup joints & diff shafts, ...

I am seriously considering parking this next to my modified Savage SS.

And with the order over 300 you get the 25.00 discount so it gets closer . I hope it is a good car. GT4 are you sure it was a .18 car you saw. The main thing I want from this car is to learn control and how to change my car for diffrent track conditions. Thanks for all the inputs.

I've got the rs4 3 evo and its fantastic, its got a .15 engine and it stays with serpents all the way on the track the only thing that lets it down is my driving!!!

I have a question - to those who have an RS4, how have you set the throttle linkage EXACTLY? I can't seem to have the throttle / brake set up any other way than slightly bends the throttle link on the carb back under braking.
Any thoughts?
