Hey guys I have a Savage xl and I don't want to put aluminum on it and was on RPM site but didn't see any upgrades for the XL. Am I a looking in the wrong place? Are the Savage X and XL suspension arms different? Thanks

the reason there aren't any is because you don't really need them. the savage is a tough rig. i had 3 of them over about 5 years and never broke an a arm. heck the most i broke was spur gears, diff gears, popping shock caps off, and popping turnbuckles off.

i wasn't very nice to them either...

Same here, the only stuff I break are the axle carriers and the c-hub that holds the axle carrier.

I was running mine yesterday, 3-speed, LRP28, 16/47 gearing, it was in second gear about to hit third and was running at a good clip. Hit a 5" tall concrete curb that I didn't see lurking in the grass on the edge a parking lot. Only hit the right side of the truck. It shot straight up in the air about 6 feet doing forward flips. My heart just sank as I walked to it (was about 100 yards away) expecting the worse. The only damage was a decent nick in the rear skid. I was stunned!

Mines not an XL or X though. Well, the arms and towers aren't, they are the old school savage bits.

Oh I know how tough it is. I have launched mine off a 4 1/4 pipe repeatedly didn'break anything. Thats a good day running RC cars in my book. I would like a skid plate as it is a little exposed underneath though. I have video on my phone of my son launching but the sun was in my eyes so you see is the truck leaving the ramp.

i like to run the savage, like it was intended to be ran! drive it like ya stole it:hehe: but this could happen to you:whhooo: i am getting the RPM:D i too was like :OMG: when i boke them.

Wow I have to say that is on of the first broken Savage A-arms I have ever seen. I was going 3/4 throttle and almost full speed and hit a rock I could not see and the truck did not flip but came to a sudden dead stop. The truck had so much momentum that I broke the engine mount and the sucker nearly exited the truck. The mount broke into three pieces.....no other damage. But it RPM is your thing go for it.

Yeah, that is a good idea. Those brake disks are very exposed to rocks/sticks and whatnot. All it takes is one decent hit to snap your brake disks and your day is done... as we all know how fun brake work is on the old savage ;)

Now you have me thinking I should make a skid... Since mine is an inch longer, the gap between the front/rear is further apart making it more exposed... GEEZ!!!! Now I have to worry about that!?!?!!

Is a good idea though.

Tim, to answer your question...the X arms and the XL arms are the same. The RPM arms for the X will fit XL.
