rotostart problems

ok so before i begin i know what you are all going to say '' put a pullstart on ''but I'm trying it out , so my problem is as follows , my rotostart slipps alot when turning over the engine. is there a particular reason for this?sometimes it doesn't even catch at all.Any ideas?

Yup. It's not the rotostart that's slipping, it's the one way bearing. Take it out and give it a good cleaning. Clean the shaft too. End of problem.
