So I got a Robinson metal spur gear and it comes with a Bearing rather than the slide on hex my issue is two things. One I can't get the bearing to slide over the hex on the transmission. Sorta stumped on that... I was told to sand the hex a little? Idk. Also I couldn't get any slipper pegs into the holes on the gear. Should I buy an upgraded slipper clutch or is there a special trick to getting the pegs into the gear on a medal spur gear

I'd send it back, invest the dough in an updated Traxxas slipper and stay with plastic spurs. They're plastic so they act as a "fuse". A weak link that's easy to get at for repairs, rather than having internal tranny problems. That style slipper doesn't hold settings very well either.

I agree with mat^^^. You need to get the torque control slipper upgrade kit for your 2.5 tranny. Its only like $25 from traxxas and it keeps a breaking point between your engine and tranny. Especially if you ever intend on sticking a bigger engine on your truck with a steel spur gear your gonna be tearing up internal tranny parts. I would rather keep changing spurs than rebuilding a transmission all the time.

If you do intend to use the RRP spur:
A trick to installing the friction pegs is to, on a flat surface (I use a piece of glass) roll the friction peg back and forth on the glass with your finger applying pressure. This will slightly roll the square edge of the friction peg over and make them much easier to insert in any spur (steel or plastic).
On the rare occasion I use that spur, I remove the bearing and replace it with a hex bushing that fits the slipper shaft correctly. Rounding off/sanding the shaft hex is not a good idea and will only lead to problems later on.

I have the clutch bell and spur gear all harden steel and the transmission is FOC and i have the Trx 3.3 i have not seen or had one transmission issue And the pegs lol i just used a hammer to get those things in :D and evened them up with a pin punch

That's great advice for a person asking for help...:horsecrap

Oh my god! Some people just do not need to be allowed to have tools... This falls under the phrase of "HEY YALL WATCH THIS" and "KEEP HITTING IT, IT WILL FIT".

Funny part is, I'm sure someone has done it that way as I'm sure someone has drilled the spur to make the pegs fit and so on....

i use a small tweezers to hold the pegs over the holes, and just use a small plastic rod to push them in. key is to keep them straight, and they will pop right in. i have been using rrg on my maxx and they work great ! i have used both plastic and metal...plastic gears will give way to your Cb gear, metal gears will eat your CB.

They're my tools i payed for them with my own fricken money..... And do they give instructions on how to do this NO so how bout you close your fricken mouth and go troll some where else.... And where does it say i can't use a holy moly hammer to do this jeez.....

Guess what it took me what 2 minutes to put them in... and it took how long for the rest of you people idk too dang long....

I have no issues with my spur gear and tearing up any internal transmission gears so must be i must know something

"Queef ball"! hahahahahhahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is hilarious. I guess I should pay attention to the subject because I have all of my slipper clutches cranked down tight so I can do wheelies. Sounds like if I continue to do this I will be working on transmission gears. And Lockdo 6307, you need to send that back to them and tell them it does not fit.

I got the gear in the lot when I purchased the truck so I think I will hang on to it. the way I see it if your truck is running properly and everything is adjusted you shouldn't have an issue with a metal gear imo. I may be wrong, still new to the hardcore rc world. Gonna hang on to it and when I feel the truck is strong enough ill throw it in :/ another question is their a better slipper setup for the metal gear? I am going to my lhs tomorrow to see if they have the upgraded slipper

Nitro4910, you didn't tell me your name is "queef ball"....

exceptions1187, why don't you take your hammer and go beat your spur on your own time. Don't forget your hard hat, we wouldn't want you to hurt your self, and my only advice to you is, make sure your school bus windows are clean before you lick them...

Seems like someone needs to take his medicine. Lol
Don't take poop so seriously man i figured you and everyone else would get a good laugh out of my "shouldn't own tools" statement. I didnt mean to piss you off into cursing everyone out. Then again the "Queefballs" is going into my list of insults to use one day! Lol

The way I see it is, people are welcomed to question others opinions, not very one is going to agree on every method but you shouldn't attack with calling people queef balls just because they don't agree with you, it goes to show how immature some people can be....
