After some tops tips from you guys about my schumacher riot i have yet again more queries....

well one actually,

my riot idles well at the mo, when she gets to temp she gets a little creepy (wants to go forward) but a little idle screw adjusting has nearly sorted this.

now my serious question, I'm running on Dry sand on the dunes at a beach I'm using regulary, and i find my engine is heating to v hot temps, i cut it the second it gets untouchable (or the spit goes after 2 seconds) i let it cool and start it up, next to the dunes is a car park and i have used this to correctly tune and richen the engine up on the lsn as i noticed not much smoke on the lower end of the power band but i have a healthy amount at higher speeds. I'm wondering is it because the engine is reving so much on the sand that it heats v quickly, and if so should i keep richening (spelling) the engine at lsn and hsn until i have a safe consistant temp regardless of my use or time spent on the dunes?

Dave

Well, sand is high drag, more so than tall grass (like where I run), so you may want to gear down a bit so the engine can run easier. I find that gearing down a bit helps with engine temps and tuning as the engine doesn't have to run so hard. Even then, you will probably need to tune on the rich side to run in sand vs pavement or groomed track.

gearing down, i guess if i bought a 3 speed set up the lower down gear settings should suffice?? or am i being a total noob....i dont know much about gearing to be honest... lol
