Alas, shipping time was actually accurate for once and I didn't receive an empty box..😆 had enough daylight left today to change out some wheels, remove some factory stickers and do a short test run on the Ripper! Now I know why the called it the Ripper...2 speed transmission and honestly I don't see the need for that much speed on a mini crawler but man this thing zooms in 2nd gear without losing the ability to super slow crawl in 1rst gear with power coming from the hobbywing mini 24 brushless setup. (Same as the Apex). As always, not sure of factory servo reliability so I have ordered an Injora 11g servo that will fit in the stock location. Once I get some more runtime and obstacles conquered I can comment on performance but as of now I don't regret picking this unit up. The performance is on par with the Apex with side by side comparisons in the pics below. Body pretty much attaches near the same way as the Apex body although this Ripper body is a single piece design, not two halves as the Apex. Really impressed with all aspects so far in the few hours I've messed with it. Portals on both units in the rear are almost identical and the portals in the front are close in design but the Apex front portal has a better ground clearance near the inside hubs from the portal design compared to the Ripper portal design. Enjoy the comparison pics, I'll try to answer any questions and post more info once I have more run time on it. Side by side comparison seems to be as close as you can get to an Apex clone with the 2 speed transmission being the only real significant difference.

Glad it finally arrived! Looks really good. The scale of the RGT body looks more natural than the Apex. The bad thing is after market parts will be scarce, the good thing is, if it performs like the Apex you won't need them. :thumbs-up: Thanks for all of the comparison shots. Does the body latch system work well? hard to tell how secure it is.

Hello Doom 🤛
Clipless body system works very well..very similar to the Apex. Front is engaged into two openings on each frame rails and the rear has a flat spring activated mechanism that locks the rear of the body into place once you push the bed down. Easier access to get the body on/off than the Apex setup. If you want to run different bodies they also enclosed a bag of clips and body mounts for old style body attachments. Other than internal gear parts (which are all metal on this unit) it looks like things such as links, servos, shocks etc would be available using any aftermarket makes..(injora, meus, treal and so) to replace most common items.
The body does sit higher than the Apex but I believe that is because the body itself is a taller mold. The red is striking in person and paintwork is flawless..I'm not even a big red color fan 😃

You mean those aren't machine gun barrels? 😛🤣

In the diorama world that would be an excellent use for them..lol

Investigating further I have found out the Apex overdrive/underdrive gears or the Injora stainless steel O/U gears are a direct fit for the RGT axles..around $15-20 usd for either set so even with that install this rig is still well under $200 usd.
RGT rc also has a website with a few upgrade pieces already available.

I think you did well with this RGT, sometimes you have to take a risk and try something new. I'm liking it. :thumbs-up:
Thank you Doom! I will officially say I am super pleased with the purchase 😄.. I can say I believe this unit actually has a bit more flex than my Apex and it also has a smaller turning radius (very minimal) around a 1/2" but I chalk that up to the RGT axles are narrower than the Apex so the shorter turning radius would make since from that standpoint. Love the 2 speed...it has a dual personality of be a legit crawler and a trail truck when wanted. I'll replace servo, find a link setup that will work and try to add a little weight up front...those will be the only modifications I will make. No regrets with this purchase, it is actually a very nice rig for as a cheaper alternative for a seasoned RC'er or a great rig for someone getting into the hobby new. They will already be starting out with a very capable rig without blowing a budget on never ending upgrades...😉

Nice when something goes in struggle free. :thumbs-up:
Please explain... 🤔
'Struggle' and 'free' don't go together in a sentence unless someone is having a sale on 'struggle' and are giving it away 'free'. 🙄🤣

You're not fooling anyone with those smoke and mirror tricks!!! 🙄

Oh, wait... 😲🤣

Did this one also come from Ali?
Cool little trucks!!! Awesome find!!! 😎👍
Yes, Ali came thru again..they have the cheapest price I have seen on these units..I can say since I've started looking into them they have started to creep up in price probably from people starting to see them around and now quite a few videos on YouTube about them.
I love my Apex but getting it from Redcat direct to the Philippines (where I'm at presently) was $400 usd ($250 unit/$150 FedEx ship). I got these units for $155/$158 usd with free shipping. Second gear is insanely fast for a 1/18 crawler but it doesn't affect slow crawling in first gear so it's cool that it has the 2 speeds. 👍
Parts are also becoming much easier to find.

The price difference leaves a LOT of room for hop ups! I think you found a winner here!!! 😎👍

I can't believe you bought two of those junk piles! 😜 🤷‍♂️ Very cool, and for sure a good deal with you being in the Phillipines. 😍 I'm trying to control my spending at the moment, or I think I would grab one. I'm kind of a sucker for the less popular brands.

🤣🤣 You can't get one of these until you complete the Vehicross! 🫢
