Revo, Savage or other ? (please don't bash me)

hi everyone, I recently found a group of people that race RCs in Guyana. But all they have are Monster Trucks and I was going to shoot for the inferno GT.
What they run is Traxxas Tmaxx, Traxxas revo, Associated Monster GT, and Tamiya TNX. All are stock, I've been hearing good things about the Savage and was wondering how well it would hold up against these guys. I don't want to be eating dirt all day :arrr:

Also any other recommended trucks would be nice :hammer:

I have heard many good things about the Savage, they are super tuff right out of the box, I believe the newest one is the fastest wich comes with a 3 speed tranny. I would think it would stay right up with your buddys trucks. I'm sure you will get more info from some of the other members here who own one. I know when I can afford to get one I will be adding the Savage to my collection :)

I have heard that savages take quite a beating and hold up well. I haven't had much experience with a revo though..

I just got a REVO around christmas time and have to say I am rather pleased with it. Allthough I am NOT too happy with the way the shock operate and flex (very little articulation there) the tranny keeps both wheels firm,ly planted on the ground and keeps it under strict control. It turns tight and runs rather well. The mill on it looks sick and I know there are tons of optional hop-ups for it as well.

Unfortunately I have never been behing the throttle of a Savage. but I have heard nothing but amazing praise for it's toughness. If you look around here on RCNT I doubt you will find more than a few threads about someone needing a replacement part or help replacing a part on a Savage. Along with the REVO there are thousands of neat parts and you can even trick it out with an extra engine/tuned pipe using the "Truckzilla kit"

All in all I would have to say- I have dealt with HPI's Customer service, I have seen Savvys in action and I have heard NOTHING bad about them. If you are a fairly new driver i would go with the Savage. The REVO is fun, and fast, but IMO not too tough. Both trucks are in about the same category in my book. Big, Fast and mean. But the Savage has a bit more backing it. I also believe (meaning I don't know for sure) that either one or both ot the trucks come with a "Stress Tech" guarantee, meaning if a part listed under waranty breaks they wil replace it.

Thanks for the responses comrads, which one of the savage line is the best one?

And what mod you think I should buy with it?

Thanks Jesse, any recommeneded upgrades or hop ups?
Mostly grass we'll be running on. Also, I live in hot climate. Would I need to change the cooling head on the engine ?

Or the new Limited.

I think you cannot go wrong with either the Revo or Savage. Both have good international support, too.

I've got a revo and I like it. Haven't put any $$ into it and its fast. I've read that savvys are good bashers, but handle like bricks. Either way you go you won't be disapointed.

I have the Savage and I bash it well. Its a straight up great truck for those that intend to do lots of jumping . As far as racing, you can gear it that way with better shock towers and different shocks to lower the Center of Gravity. The version that is most popular due the engine and tranny is the Limited. The LImited has the 25 engine and a 3 speed. The 4.6 kit only has the 2 speed tranny. I have the 25 engine with the 3 speed but my engine is modded so I am not worried on speed and power.

I recommend looking more on what you are capable of working on and spending on.l The Savage has the TVP style chassis and the Revo has a "molded" type chassis.

I have had the pleasure of driving both and OWN a savage so I think that Out of the Box you can't go wrong either way.

too much results man, better to post esp since i got the other guys rides, :P

If it wasn't for us Newb's, you knowledgeable guys would have nothing to do! tee hee

Do you mean race with them? If that's the case i think you'll have to dump a bit of ca$h into a savage to allow it to better contend with those rc's. The Revo is a basher and a racer in one(my opinion). The Savage is stronger than the Revo, but dont get me wrong the revo is very tuff itself, but the revo is definetaly a better racer out of the box.

In conclusion, if you are racing, Revo. If you're bashing, Savage. (IMO)

I didnt mean it to be a wise ass, Just meant theres alot of good info ya can find on there. Either way is cool with me. Unless its about Nawwzz or superchargers.. Then I start pulling my hair out..lol

Which one of the savages are RTR ?
I have no experience with Nitros yet

The SS is the new 4.6 and yeah, thats a kit. The RTR savage is the Savage 25. I'm not sure if there making the .21 anymore (I know they quit, but I saw they were reviving it. Maybe just overseas) but yeah, that one was RTR also.

what's the difference between a TVP style chassis and thea "molded" type chassis?
