Replacing Carb on a 21 Hyper 7 Engine

Hi,

Is it crucial to use some form of gasket sealant when replacing a carb like for like or can it just be replaced and secured?

@Rickyo007 sealing isn't required, but does make life easier when it comes to tuning. We have a great tutorial on how to Seal a nitro engine for leaks.

Do I just smear a small amount of the gasket sealant around the carb before I push it on the engine??

My guess is that some engine MUST have their carb sealed. I once had a...what then appeared to be an air leak right where the carb connects to the engine. It ran awful, needed constant tuning, and even did something similar to detonation I think (lots of smoke started blowing out from under the head). Never got the chance to seal it before I got rid of it.
