what is the best method for repairing a cracked lid.

Put a little shoe goo on the inside where the crack is. You can reinforce it futher by putting a piece of scrap lexan in the goo.

i drill a small hole about 1/4" from the crack on each side. then run a small zip-tie from one hole to the other and connect it.also u can try a piece of scrap lexan and shoo goo.

I say run it till it's beyond repair, buy a new lid and start over. Bodies are meant to be destroyed. Shoe goo is a quick and easy repair but I know that once I have a crack in the body, it's lowered in ranks to a basher body and I don't worry about it. I don't even fix it.

Whats shoe goo?? I've never heard of it. I've been using super glue which works allright I guess, but I agree on driving it till its draggin.

CA glues are very brittle and don't stand up to impact. Shoe Goo is in a tube, applies thick, and doesn't completely "harden" when it cures, so it doesn't become brittle. Good stuff. Any LHS should have it. If not, try a hardware store.

Don't get it at a hobby shop, it will cost triple. I get mine at Wal-Mart in the shoe section.

YOU'RE KIDDING ME !!!!!
You mean you can use it on shoes too?
I'm stunned and amazed. Who would ever have thought to try it on shoes?

if you're afraid of the crack getting longer, take a small (1/8" or so) drill and put a hole at each end of the crack. the radius of the hole spreads out the pressure so its not concentrated on one spot. if the cracks not too big, that will probably be enough but if you want to patch it with shoe goo you can do that too

I vote for shoe-goo and scrap lexan.
Also drill a small hole at the end of the crack to prevent it from wanting to travel further.

I agree with what eveyone else has said.

Hers apic of Marine Goo if you will

I use shoe goo but instead of scrap lexan I use cheap battery bars for assembling packs. The are maybe 25 cents each and have a hole in each end for solder, makes a nice strong repair.
