Last night I started putting on the brass portal covers, when I took the 1st cover off I was not surprised by what I didn’t find much of. The gears on the 2 I did they didn’t have very much grease 😱 I cleaned the little there was and replaced it with Mobil xhp 222 blue grease

Yeah, it really is no surprise. Unfortunately, we, as consumer, really should go through these mass produced rtr, and check and hit 'em with lube and locktite as needed. We hear about these issues way too often.
 
With Redcat and any cheaper brand being RTR you can expect that for sure. Just like @Xraycer said I would over it completely. I do with any RTR rigs.
Your portals look awesome. I have a set on my Gen 7 and love them. I don't have the brass covers yet.
 
It was a good thing you decided to add the brass, would have sucked if you had problems down the road because of the lack of lube. Can't wait to see her get out and play.
 
The geers seem coated with a thin film of grease. Doesn't look that bad. :)
