A friend is upgrading the shocks on the Gen 8, because they suck. I'm trying to see what other people are doing?

The plan is to replace them with RC4wd 90mm shocks. They are a few mm short of stock but that's OK. The problem we are seeing is the Redcat uses a property ball. It's an extended ball.

From the top you can see the "extension" to the shock tower. I didn't take it out but I' assuming this is a special Red Cat pivot ball.

This is the new shock side by side.

We could probably get the old ball out but the new shocks have an aluminum cap.

We are thinking a ~5mm spacer and like a 15mm screw should do the trick.

Have any thoughts, have you done this, are we crazy?

I’ve spaced out shocks just using a nut (ones with the nylon insert). Looks like it might be about right.

It looks like spacers are the way to go. I also saw some notes on the RC4WD site about other models and spacers.

Thanks for the feedback all!
