Was super hyped to paint the truck today
Got the windows and roof masked and the body painted but that was easy part.
I went to do the dip and disaster struck!
I forgot I got new activator lol
I totally forgot that the can I had sputtered out So I'm waiting on delivery. AND what I had was labeled as HOT
At first I didn't know what this meant
It means the activator is gonna freaking disintegrate your sheet and the paint is gonna explode all over into your tank making an un useable mess thats what hot activator means lemme tell ya
Here's some photos of the work in progress.
Kinda have hit a stumbling block of waiting on the mailman to go any further sadly
I'm tots McGee gonna have to add some weight to this rig if it's gonna tow stuff.
Leave it to me to decide my lightest rigs gonna pull heavier stuff than it

Sometimes its better when a job goes a little sideways. My plans usually suck anyways so its great when they get skewed. 🤣

Made some progress but failed on the fade this time? I did things the same way or so I thought.
I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out nonetheless.
@Bwompuss pointed out that my flysky controller was holding me back.
Replaced it with a radiolink 7 channel remote. I'm in love!! I've needed this for awhile now but didn't realize it was gonna alleviate so many problems.
Now I can spool the winch in and out with a knob, slowing the winding at the last minute rather than just start and stop.
Much improved so I'm adding a recipe er to the Old Man so I can work the winch in that beast as well !
For now I've got no weight on him. Need to order brass for it. For meow I've got a heavy bolt strapped to the bumper.
I need the extra boost to be able to tow heavier vehicles since some dummy decided to make his lightest rig into his tow rig ......

Nicely done dude!

took the tow rig out for its first spin today.
need to address a few areas.
1: needs weight, especially in the front.
solution/ adding weight
Front Inner Portal Housing Weight: 30g/pcs= 60g
Rear Inner Portal Housing Weight: 41g/pcs = 82g
Caster Block Weight: 47g/pcs= 94g
Outer Portal Housing Weight: 63g/pcs = 252g
for a toal addition of 488g additional weight. I'm leaving the large bolt on as well lol i dig it and it helps.

2: my rear shocks are fully compressed. still using oem shocks. they work well under normal loads.
temporary solution/ take apart, add spring from desert lizard pack i have if they will fit. if not fuel line to keep them from fully compressing.
better solution/ new shocks (i like desert lizards) with thicker shock oil, plunger replacement with fewer holes,

welp/// most of that brass wont fit the ascent 10
i was told by a redcat rep that the ascent platform uses the same parts as the redcat gen 8.
this is not exactly true.
the ascent axles are 1 piece so the
Caster Block will not connect as they are non removeable. they are a single part with the axle and the inner portals wont line up with the factory blocks

the rear inner portals MIGHT fit. i couldnt find the screws to remove it tho so as of now they arent on the truck either.

honestly quicker to just say what DID fit.
the outer portal axle covers fit. thats it lol. which added 252 grams additional. a little over a half lb down low, really sad about this, but I'm used to things not working right so onto the next attepmt. thinking
