This may seem kind of strange but I have never been given bad advice on this forum. My mom wants to buy a 20" flat screen monitor for her computer. Do you guys have any recommendations? Her budget is about $300.

Well, I have an acer AL2017 and it isn't bad.

The only thing you may want to pay attention to is that LCD's don't work well when they are not in their native resolution. They work, but they are blurry. I found that out when I got mine (1400x1050). Anything but that res, and it's blurry.

So, if you do find one you want, figure out what it's native resolution is and make sure her current video card can support it. Or you may end up getting her a monitor that ends up blurry.

I'm not sure if it's the same for all or if I just got lucky... in a bad way.

I'm using a 22" emachines that i got for $245 and its real nice imo....

22" HP. Stunning. Close to her budget, but worth every cent.
Non glare. Avoid any glossy screens since they all reflect any lights or windows in the room.

Nothing beats my Dell 24" Widescreen. Had it for YEARS now....wouldn't trade it for the world. I would HIGHLY recommend one of the Dell 20" Widescreens. I use 2 of them at work and just love em. Pretty cheap these days too.

stick to color. the old black and white monitors do no justice. check to make sure it has an on/off switch. they can be a bugger to find. on mine the batteries die quick, so spend the cash on rechargables.. :D

Try an Optiquest Q2202wb 22" widescreen monitor, wall mountable too. £118 GBP, not sure what that translates as in $, but good imaging in any res from 800x600 to 1600x1280.

This one. HP W22.

I have the Acer 22", no complaints at all. No dead pixels, great color, and less than $200 from newegg.com last I checked.
