I have a kyosho inferno tr 15 nitro buggy that I bought my son about 6 or 7 years ago. It has not run since we moved about 5 years ago. I was wanting to try to get it to run again so I bought new fuel and flushed the tank and lines and tried to start it with no luck. Then the recoil started slipping instead of turning the engine. I took the starter off and it looks like the starter turns a bearing that slides onto half the crankshaft. How is this supposed to turn the crank if it just slides over it? Any avise to help start this thing would be appreciated. encs

You could try cleaning the oneway and see what gives...might need a new one but try cleaning it first. keep us posted!
It's called a one-way bearing. The needles in the bearing have a tiny spring behind them, when rotated one direction it binds on the crankshaft and causes it to rotate. When the engine starts, it overruns the bearing causing the needles to move back slightly away from the crank.
Like Boutch said, cleaning is needed from time to time. Try that before replacing it

Thanks for the replies. I found the problem is the plastic grooves that the bearing sits in have broke which is why it wasn't working. After i fixed that it works.
I still can not seem to get it started. I think we may have overheated it when he was running it 5 years ago through tall grass. Is there anywhere I can buy a engine rebuild kit? Or maybe get a new engine for it? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.
