Receiver problem

When I run my car for a few minutes the receiver temporarily has a mind of it's own, the throttle opens and closes by itself making the car surge forward and there is nothing I can do about it until it starts working normally again

Four questions: Are you running a failsafe? Is the system 2.4ghz? Is the antenna cut or shortened in any way? What are you using for power (AA Batteries or receiver pack)?

Yes I'm running 2.4ghz and a failsafe, no the antenna hasnt been cut and I'm using 4 double AAs

It's a good idea to replace the AA batteries with a good quality rechargeable receiver pack.

I have a 5 cell rechargeable pack from my other car might give that a try

That could be your problem. The other could be either a sticking carb or a faulty servo.
