You'd probably be better off purchasing a premade pack that was designed to fit comfortably within the radio box on your car/truck, such as a 5-cell, 6 volt hump or flat pack.

I suppose you could make one if you soldered 5 batteries together and shrink wrapped them though.
 
You could, but you would need 5 cells. It's cheaper and more effective to just pony up and buy the pack pre-made. You'll end up with a higher MAH rating, which means longer running time between charges. Not to mention, it'll be made correctly for the application.
