I've just bought a second hand Hyper st, when I connect the battery pack the servo,s & throttle linkages just twitch for a while.
Does this mean the battery pack needs charged.
The thing is when I try to charge it the battery pack gets realy hot & still don't work. Does this mean it's finished, so I need a new one.
 
What kind of battery pack do you have and what kind of charger?
Please be careful charging batteries if you're not sure of gear.
Lipo battery charging can be tricky.
I would not try to charge that pack again. At least until you know the battery and charger are compatible and settings are correct.
 
if both are twitching I would suspect something to do with rx and or the servos .... check the voltage on the rx battery and make sure it's withing the voltage range for the rx and servos .... too high/ low voltage can cause this also

I have not used a wall wort/slow charger on a nicad battery in... ever.
I looked info up and what I could find for a good rate is C/10 so 100mah for your battery.
Your charger says 300mah so I THINK there's an issue.
I am not a battery guru but there is a guy here who knows more about batteries and leds than I will ever.
Hopefully @Greywolf74 is out there...
I am hoping he will step in.

I will ask again why you think your battery is not charged fully.
Have you tested voltage?

Something is wrong.
Nicads get WARM not HOT when they are operating and used correctly.

A smart charger will sense when the battery has peaked and shut down the charger.

Your charger will send voltage until it fries the battery or until YOU unplug it.
THATS the reason I just don't like them.

Although its a good guess, even if it says HPI, I wouldn't go betting money its the "right" charger just yet.
 
Ok... so I might have this worked out.
I need you to verify this...
I did a little search-foo and came up with a replacement battery for the.. its supposed to be 6V.
Yours is 4.8V.
ALL your problems COULD be caused by this.
I think you have the wrong pack but you need to reasearch your kit and your manuals to verify this.
 
I got another battery which is charged, but this is all that's happening

No ordered a 6v one.
Had it on a bit more charge and I've got the steering to move slightly and the brake servo is moving now, the thing is when you brake the carbon opens fully

You said you had a fully charged battery and now you say you got it to charge more...
This is important.
Before you go further with this car, you NEED to have a charged battery.
Diagnosing electrical issues with a dead or low battery is a complete waste of time.
Thats a fact in rc or f/s.
Your throttle channel is likely reversed based on what you said its doing.
Full charge, then diagnose.

actually some can be flipped around i think only the trademarked futaba connectors have the little spline on them .... I know all my hobbywing esc connectors can be plugged in either way ... you have to look for the wire labeled sensor ... in this case with a battery you would have to make sure you have the + / - in the correct places in the receiver

His Hobao RTR electronics connectors only install one way unless someone has cut the locating tabs off. 😉

yeh was unsure about which connector he had .... and well I'm using a phone so pics are tiny lol but ... was just throwing an idea out that would hopefully help .... I hate when I find an issue like this and it was something stupid simple I've overlooked a million times lol
 
I’m using my gay asss iPhone as well.. A good rule of thumb in my experience over the years is that the grounds always orientate to the outside edge of the rx.. And of course as far as channels go in surface RC “1 to turn, 2 to burn”.. HOWEVER-Hobao’s manual shows throttle/brake as channel (1), and steering at channel (2).. Hopefully that’s a misprint…🙄

as do the flysky receivers ...... you can plug a servo wire in either way ... heck on some of the reivers you can even plug them in across channels :eek::eek:
