Okay guys, I need your opinion on this. I got the engine still set to factory specs...plenty rich. I'm two idle tanks in, and my temps are seriously starting to skyrocket. It hits like 250 degrees. I'm thinking it's time to start driving her around a bit to get the temps down.

Do you think I should still try a few more idle tanks or just driving it around? It's kinda getting to the point where it's so rich that if I richen it up anymore it'll just die.

250 just idiling?? I would say that just sounds weird but my 21BB hit 280 the other day doing the same thing. What does hot bodies recommend that engine to run at optimum temperatures. I know break in is different. Maybe it's time to look at a fan for the engine of some sort.

my s-25 when idling while breaking in with a rich factory setting hardly reaches 210F. I think there might be an air leak in your engine.

Well I could bring a fan out and have it just blowing air on the head...

I thought about an air leak, but it was cruising in the 200 range on the first tank. Could an air leak have developed?

Kwong try running it and richen your settings a bit more. In breaking in mine, I noticed that it likes running rich, when I notice it bogs down when I pump the trigger, that's when I lean it a bit and she goes great. Running temp on mine is 198-205. I am now on my 11th tank. The power is starting to show. I should be able to get to my optimum setting after a couple more tanks.

Zilla today

Kwong I had to replace all the o-rings on the first novarossi motor I purchased because they had dry rotted. I could not tune that engine regardless what I did until I replaced those o-rings, check your o-rings on both needlevalves. Also did you notice , your carb has three needlevalves on it most engine manufactors warn you not to disturb that needlevalve setting. Also you might want to check your fuel lines and make sure you have no pinholes.

Zilla today

Hey Kwong, How's it going dude? You have not posted anything about your zilla in the last couple of days. I hope you resolved the tuning issues . The zilla really is fun to drive when you get it going.

I haven't really done anything since my last post. I drove it around for a few minutes giving it just enough throttle too move it. But was hungry and didn't wanna deal with it so I just put it away.

I'll probably finish broken-in in the next few weeks. Right now i'm concentrating on getting my ntc3 ready for sale...and cleaning up my hobby table...it's a total mess.

I'll keep you updated.

I can't really say. I dunno how much torque a rotostart is capable of. Personally, I just use the pullstart...keeps the muscles in shape ;)

i wouldn't recommend it... you can snap the shaft...

besides I don't use the rotostart on my truckzilla.. pullstart on one pull now...

I still think it's SWEET...

Zilla Today

Harry....just loosen the plug about 1/4 of a turn to relieve some of the compression so it will be easier to pull. Once it starts up tighten the plug back up and you are ready to go. My motor usually starts on the second pull!! I would not put on the roto-start, as the motor breaks in it gets alot easier to start.

HN, I wold not recommend breaking-in with roto-start either. I used the pull start for 3 tanks, then I installed the roto-start after that.

My zilla is running great after 16 tanks of nitro. I finally did some serious bashing over the weekend with a friend of mine who has a 2.5 TMaxx. Sooooweeeet!

I'm waiting for some front differential parts and then I'm ready to go. I can't wait;)
