I work in the automotive aftermarket and attended the SEMA show this past week in Las Vegas. A company I've worked with before, Nitrous Express, had a Savage 25 on display with a nitrous kit on it. :OMG:

It uses a small purge type solenoid with a small jetting orifice into the air cleaner elbow.:w00t:

They are finalizing the kit now and it might come with a larger air filter and elbow (to facilitate installation) and either a colder plug or a a plug chart for the end user.

It looked way cool and the guy who designed it said that they have had about 25 of those little co2 cartridges through it so far. Early testing blew off the tuned pipe but it's running sweet now he says.

He's supposed to be sending me one when it goes into production. I hope to report back then!

It's going to be hard to power that 110v hair dryer off of your hump pack... :boxing:

I'd rather buy a kit from a reputable company that knows what they are doing than from someone who's cobbled something together...

:chillpill

I'm sure that the nitrous kit is gonna cost more than I want to spend but cobbling something together as you said sounds like it would be fun to try.

:::::without experience bequeathed from others with it, newbs like myself may never gain it:::::tmaxx4me

it was a joke lol. however the intercooler would b an easy solution though. radiators off a watercooled computer ahahaha

This will definatly do damage and make more space faster between piston and sleeve TOO fast will cause engine to heat faster and whats the point in a off-road youll probably blow your spur gear unless you got the metal one but that will be shredded after a while!!!! Good luck to the stupid people who buy this!

And it hasn't gotten great reviews.

exactly, if it really worked. id already have it. I'm a nitrous junky for my real car, but in rc its useless.

i wanna see people blowin off carbs and killin needles....since there isnt a manifold or MAF (EFI cars) 2 kill.

Forget nitrous, how about a turbo? Back in the late 80's I was running a 1/8 scale buggy with a .21 Paris Picco and me and a friend decided to put our resources into developing a turbo. It took us about 6 months but we got one up and running. We originally tried to leave the carb mounted on the crankcase but soon realized the carb couldn't work under pressure so we remote mounted it onto the turbo. It developed way more power than we could put to the ground, destroyed diffs, mainshaft drive gears and clutches but the engine was bulletproof. Man, I miss those old days. I wonder what box I stored those turbo molds in............?

the same one as your kryptonite and plutonium, id assume, thats where i keep mine.

Now all we need is to put NOS on a Supercharged RC, and we will have it all!!!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd never go the turbo route again. It would be much easier to make a Roots-type blower and drive it off of the crank. I've searched for the old tooling for that turbo project but haven't found it yet. I did find some kryptonite and plutonium though............... ;)

Tell me about this Sirio engine on that Super Nitro. I've never had any dealings with these engines and am looking to make an upgrade from my NitroStar on my RS4 2

well the one i have is currently out of production. there is a review of it on rc car actions site just do a search for ".15 sirio". i like it a lot, its a direct bolt in but you will need a starter box since its only availible in non-pullstart. i really like it a lot, it was easy to break in, and makes crazy power.

my super is set up with a one-way front diff and 7000wt silicon filled rear diff. this motor will break all 4 wheels loose from a dead stop or slight roll. so far its snapped 3 dogbones in half on me, my fantom only ever killed 1. super easy to tune and holds 200* no matter what i do to it. it will lean bog on my before it overheats.

if you can find one, grab it, otherwise sirio has a few other nice motors on the market right now that id consider as well.

the engine is rated at 1.7hp and 40k+rpm, keep in mind thier test was run with 20% nitro and a roar legal pipe. i run an outlaw pipe and 30%.

"It's been done before" by people that don't create nitrous systems for 1:1 scale cars every day, that's why they have problems.

Just like any of their real systems, I'm sure this will be safe when it comes out...

I'll let you know more when it goes into production (if anyone cares...)

Not to come down on ya'(shame on us) but the no2 is not really meant for a mill on our cars. Its is a different animal than your 5.0 or 289. Its just we have seen these kits made by RC people, and they dont last.(engines that is)

Dry nitrous is a bad idea anyways and I figure that's the way the system will be set up. If it was an old school wet system, why not? Keep the supply small enough not to do any damage and you've got a nice little power adder

Just buy a high end engine. You won't need any power adders.
