I was running that slow ass engine, the low power one. Anything more and I just could not get around the track at all. I will have to check on the header and pipe set up though, I don't remember off hand. I tried every possible combination I could trying to get a half way decent car for the race.

I ran the slowest engine with the mid power pipe and header.

Even though I could not get into the 16's with this setup, I found my average lap time to be less with this setup so I used it. The bonus was the fact I did not have to pit stop.

I didn't have to pit either Rob, I did make one 16.9 second lap, I think in my last run. But I just tried too hard to push it a little deeper in to the corner, cut the turn just a little tighter, and did not have a consistant run.

I did a little practice today, it felt wierd going back to the oval, and a real engine after running the road courses with that dog engine. But I really like oval, so I will work on my car all week so I can maybe make a good showing for the last race.

Holy crap! I just ran a full length test session, man that is looooong, and a LOT of laps. Not too shaby either, but still some room for improvement. However right around the 16-17 minute mark my handling completely went away. It was pulling bad to the outside, I couldn't keep it is a straight line for the life of me. Next pit stop I changed tires and was right back on track. I never changed tires during a race before, guess it will be a must this week.

Yeah, there's no way to setup and avoid the handling issue that arises from tire wear. Steering trim is also nearly worthless so don't think you'll be able to fix it with a computer radio and live trim changes. As we race the right sides just get smaller and smaller and smaller. Suddenly the left tire rollout is considerably more than the right sides which makes the car always want to veer right because the left sides travel further with each revolution. You can still run decent lap times while it does this but it makes it nearly impossible to race the AI cars closely.

Since the grip level is so high everybody will probably want to run ultra hard springs all the way around. High traction requires less fine tuning to find mechanical grip so you dont' need to allow the car to roll as much which in a slippery condition helps to load the right side more and create more traction. The high grip level will also play into your fuel strategy because you're more likely to be in the throttle more, especially off of T2.

This is our "Daytona" fellas.

I think it's probably the most demanding race of the year.

No kidding! To maintain a consistant run, running 7 second laps, for 25 minutes, should definitely prove challenging. Then if you are not happy with the run, to have to go another 25 minutes is gonna be murder, lol. I may just throw down a run early this week, just to get one run in with the length of this race.

Definitely a long tough race to cap a long 16 race season.

Not the longest though. That 1/2 hour at Cinci was brutal as well.

I'm sure ya'll are preparing for the big race... How's it goin'? I think I got a pretty decent setup. It's not too sketchy to handle and I seem to be able to run consistant 6.7s. I still need to do a fuel run though to see how much I'm drinkin'

Just pulled in after driving 4+ hours. Tired, hungry and haven't practiced at all at the grip level.

I attempted to run, but quickly realized there was no way I could sit here for 25 minutes right now.

I am letting time run out since there is no way in hell I will take a 0 for not racing.

If I feel up to it in an hour, I will try again.

I jus finished my run. I'm not very happy with it though. I had a number of incidents and the tires fall off very quickly, like 50 laps and I'm ready for new shoes. Then I got so used to driving the sketchy car with worn tires I couldn't drive it with new tires. I was changing tires every other pitstop. My run did not feel very consistant at all. I find it more difficult to drive consistantly with this ultra high grip level.
