Kakegawa Tamiya may be the most balanced circuit on the schedule with it's quick technical infield and it's nearly flat out fast corners. Robmob may just be the most balanced racer in the lineup. With ultra consistant laptimes and solid pitstops Rob takes the big W from Round 13 in a very fulfilling performance indeed. In one of the most deserving wins of the season Rob really put it to the other road aces this weekend. Just barely one lap behind after 20 minutes of action we find a firm 2nd place finish with Candyman. Racer_1966 fills out the podium with a very respectable 56 laps and a fastest lap of 19.432 seconds. Our winner couldn't even touch that. Lessen takes best of the rest with what should be considered an absolutely abismal performance. Fastest lap of the race of 18.656 is little consolation to last years champion. NCnitro will complete our field this week with what most will consider a spectacular showing. NC's average laptime of 23.9 sec. hints toward some fierce competition is in store for the 2010 season. It's now two weeks off for our competitors. Time to relax?... Find the snacks?... Oh get off my back. It's late, hit the sack.

So Luxembourg it is.

Joe we ran this track earlier this season. Just so you can have something to compare, Josh averaged 19.988,Rob 20.468,Gabe 30.074 and myself 22.417. Josh, our 1 lap wonder boy :, had a fastest lap of 17.616 the rest of the fast laps were mid 18's to 19's. Jeff was a DNS due to controller adapter problems.

I've been thinking about T3-4 at RC Speedway a lot lately because of my oval project. Last weekend the Formula One race was in Belgium at Spa. For those of you unfamiliar, there is a section of the track called Eau Rouge and it is a very high speed down/left to up/right turn that is actually flat out for those cars. While watching some on-board stuff and listening to the commentary I noticed the same rpm drop thing that happens to our cars at RC Speedway. The guys that do the commentary mentioned the extreme compression that happens when the cars basically dig into the track as the elevation changes so abruptly. That got me thinking as to why the rpms drop. My brainstorming leads me to believe that the enormous vertical load on the car causes so much compression that leads to significant gains in rolling resistance and loss of momentum due to inertia.

So if that's the case we can gain speed in turn 3 and 4 by decreasing rolling resistance and maintaining momentum. Generally speaking we do this already by opting for the hardest springs. using a harder tire would help minimally but we see such a big loss in 1 and 2 due to lack of lateral grip that it negates any positive effect on the other end. Just something to think about I guess.

That does make a lot of sense. Unfortunitely having different degrees of banking at both ends of the track you have to set it up for a happy medium, it won't be perfect at both ends, but it needs to be as good as possible.

I haven't messed around at Speedway in a while, I have been trying to get set up for a good, or at least decent showing at Luxemborg. Been doing a little practice, little tweaking, I have an ok set up, but I would like to be better by go time.

I'm pleasently surprised by the competition level lately. I don't see any reason to fiddle much with the format seeing as how close everybody is getting. Although, I do like the idea of points for qualifying except without a linked format there is little reason to qualify in the first place. If everybody is having fun and it stays entertaining we may not see any changes next year. I kinda need to focus my time elseware in the hobby anyways if I'm to achieve my goals.

While I am not very good at it yet, I am enjoying it. It wouldn't bother me any if it stayed the same for next season.

Guess I better get those lawn mower blades hooked back up to my car for this weekend.

Had to abort my first run.

I normally don't run this early in the evening and my automatic file backup to an external drive stared about 4 minutes into my run. It got a little choppy while it started backing up so I just quit since I barely got started.

Backup all done. Time to try again on my run.

Run was OK, but I think I could have done better. I spent more time being hacked than usual which was frustrating.

I also missed the tiny pit entrance once struck the wall. I ended up having to go around the track to try again. Piss poor pit entrance.

You gonna run again Rob? I just passed you but a few seconds! My first run had my best lap ever,17.6, but I was more consistant the second run. I'm not going to make my third attempt.

I have a run in, I think I could have done better as well, I was hacked like mad tonight, I just couldnt seem to stay away from them. I don't know if I will run another, it's getting late here on the East coast and I don't know if I am up to another 25 minute run.

That's not a terrible run for the first time on this track Joe.

I hate how the online track never matches the practice track,my first run was really erratic. I got hosed on one of the pitstops,I pulled in and ran out of gas as I hit the stall. It still made me marshall before I could fill up! The second run was much smoother and the AI cars didn't mess with me much.

I noticed that too, but I just thought it was me. It definitely does not seem to race the same way you practice off line.

Nope.

Perhaps if the race time was 10 or 15 minutes, but not 25 minutes.

I found that after the 3rd pit stop, all I wanted was to get the race over with.

I ran again, shouldnt have bothered though. I ran almost identical laps and elapsed time, but my slowest lap was slower, as was my best lap. I'm done, 25 minutes is too much for me to run another one.

Well since the girls missed another race the only spot up for grabs now is 3rd place.

Jeff may have a lock on 3rd anyway with only 2 races left and an 18 point lead over Josh.

Honestly, I totally forgot until about 11 last night. And by that time I wasn't interested in pouring an hour into getting ready for a last minute run.
Truth be known, things outside of RCNT will probably keep me from doing much the rest of the season. Unfortunately I've run into some huge distractions that are making hobby time tough.
