Well, I've been working on a completely different type of setup for this weeks race in an effort to find some more raw speed. It's a short race so I have less of a buffer in my consistancy. I think I've hit on something finally because I started from scratch again for this speedway setup. I've generally setup my speedway car so I could run it full lock (steering) at both corners. The problem is, I think that is precisely what has been hindering my ability to find more speed. I look at it like this... the more the tires are turned, the more speed is being scrubbed off. I have a setup now that I'm full lock in 1 and 2 but I need to be more active with the wheel in 3 and 4. It's more difficult to put down laps this way but I think it's faster. I've been able to hit some 6.8's at 96% grip during a solo run. Not sure how the setup will be around other cars though.

Well, I have an attempt in. I won't say that I won't try again. That just wasn't too pretty. I wrecked in turn 4 of the last warm up lap so my first lap was completely shot and basically cost me an entire lap. I was running short on low on fuel and when I again wrecked in 4 as I was attempting to hit pit road it cut out and I had to marshal in.

I'm a little surprised that you didn't put another run in Josh.

Man,no comments, no rhetoric and no second run to knock me down? What a let down :(

Congrats Rob, I knew someone would knock me off the top! 40 laps was my goal but I missed it by that much :D

I normally don't run well at Speedway with the AI's on the track.

In practice I kept getting into them as usual and would have 2 or 3 bad laps.

Somehow I managed to stay away from them for 5 minutes in my first run.

The only bad time with them was the last 30 seconds of the race. I had to get around all 6 of them when it really counted and my lap times suffered a little as a result. It cost me 41 laps since I got caught at the line for 40.

Personally, I'm enjoying the "one and done" scenario. I had plenty of practice but couldn't put it all together when it counted. Is jeff on a new USB or did he do that with the keyboard? No run for Gabe this week I see. Points are really close for third now. Off week gentlemen..

I am impressed if Jeff got 39 laps using the KB.

The Speedway is the one place where using the KB isn't exactly a handicap. It's enough of one to keep me from hitting 40 laps, but I was competitive. I have no idea when my USB will be showing up. I certainly won't look good for the next race.

At least we have an off week.

Your USB is bound to show up before the next race ends on the 19th.

sniff, sniff.... Do I smell a new format for next year???

No run for Gabe this week I see.

I noticed that too... where were you Gabe?

I am impressed if Jeff got 39 laps using the KB.

I'm impressed too. I tried using the kb when I first got the game before my adapter arrived. I couldn't do squat! Not much better with the adapter. LOL

At least we have an off week.

Bummer :\ I like racing every week, this has been very enjoyable for me.

Round 5 RC Speedway

6/30/2009

The streak is broken. Five races into the 2009 campaign and we see plenty of evidence that even the front runners have their off days. As Lessen could not find his way around the on-track competition Robmob steams forward to take the victory at RC Speedway. Of all places this track is probably Robmobs least likely to win but circumstances put him in the catbird seat this weekend. With Candyman still struggling with technical problems Rob also breaks through in the current point standings to the second position while Candyman drops to third with Racer_1966 just barely behind him. Racer had a very competitive race as he drove to his first 2nd place finish of the season. Is a win in sight for our rookie? Savagefan04 was absent for our 5th round and he will drop significantly in points. Being 100 points behind 4th place will be nearly impossible to bounce back from without a string of big wins. RC Speedway always gives us excitingly close racing and this weekend proved no different. While Robmob smoked the field with his 96% consistancty rating. The final three racers all finish within only 2 seconds of each other. That's racing at it's best boys. We're now heading into an off week as we celebrate our countries Independence Day. I'd like to wish all competitors and all else following a very nice holiday and we'll see you all again in two weeks.

hey guys...sorry for missing out this week. work has been a biatch lately. working till late at home and i simply fell asleep on sunday afternoon and did not wake up until late. by that time i was in no mood to try and race.

I get grip info from the VRC website. Just go into the club and click on the race. It'll give you all the info there. It doesn't list it in the game itself.

I don't think it shows the grip until the start of the event.

  1. What do you guys think about the different race lengths? Does it make the season more interesting? Do you enjoy the challenge of the long races?
  2. I've gone ahead and posted the grip levels of all the remaining races in the schedule section of the first post of this thread
  3. Yes Randy, I'm planning a major overhaul to the format for the 2010 season.
