Lookin' good Randy

Gabe, I see you chose to show running an RB engine. That's what I wanted to choose but didnt' see the option. I'm gonna have to go back and have another look see at that.

Holy Crap Rob! Those got to be the most consistant laptimes I've seen since we started doing this. I had to pull out the spreadsheet when I saw that one.

97.18% :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I was focused on being consistent and getting around the track clean. I think the only time I bobbled was after the pit stop which I am sure was caused by loosing my groove after being forced to stop for fuel.

I am pretty pleased about dropping my average lap time on that track by 2 seconds from last year and I am sure I can shave another second at least once I tweak the car so I can hammer it coming around the last 2 turns coming into the front straight. As it is now, it pushes and I have to let off slightly to keep from going into the wall.

My new computer is making a world of difference in the performance of the software as well. It is smooth and glitch free for once while racing.

Absolutely. It's amazing what a 10 second pause can do to your rhythm. Looking really good Rob. I'm impressed with those times. Did you read my proposal a couple posts up?

I read it just now.

I like your idea to keep the end of the season interesting if there is a big points gap between 1st and 3rd.

If however there is a chance that 3rd could win it all by keeping a season total points format going into the last 3 races, then perhaps it would be best to keep it that way. Probably won't happen this way, but you never know and you have the option to see how it all shakes out before making any decisions.

The one points series I race in this year is an 8 race series for total points with 2 throw outs so your best 6 race finishes are used for total points.

Here is the points standings so far on that series. It is 5th scale HPI Baja Autocross on-road racing where your fortunes can change in a blink of an eye since there are a lot of cars on the track in the mains.

Link will open a PDF file that gets updated after each race day.

I've never really been a big fan of "throw away" races. To me it just seems like a waste of time when you look back on it. I always envision an r/c series that focuses more on the realities of failure. If you have a bad race it should impact your overall standings. That way things like mental preperation become more important because simply finishing average and clean becomes much more of an necessary option rather than wrecking or spinning out trying to finish well.

If I truly wanted a series that focuses heavily on the realities of failure we could use the "last run" rule throughout the entire season. I think the problem with that idea for our season is that we have a spread of abilities here and that sort of format would really hurt the less experienced racers from being competitive within their own bracket if you will. However, seeing as how the top tier drivers are very close in abilities it becomes a clear option for a title run because a bad run for the best racers isn't such a severe departure from a good run as is the case for the slower end of the spektrum. Does that make sense?

Basically, the 13 race regular season is a race to make the top three (yes, I stole it from Nascar). Then the final three race shootout (albeit still important races for the non championship drivers) would be extremely important from many more angles because of the format.

Whatever you do is OK in my book. I don't follow Nascar or any other 1:1 racing format so I trust what you are saying regarding keeping it competitive.

I'm looking forward to the season and the wheel time.

I agree with you on the throw outs. If you want to compete in a points series you must race all the races and all of them should count towards the points total.

I'm certainly going to give it some more thought but I'll have the format set in stone before the first race for sure.

Pit stop??? :whhooo: Is this mandatory? I wasn't told to make a pit stop so you better add more time to my runs then. :\

I wouldnt' say it's mandatory. If you can go 10 minutes on one tank of fuel more power to ya. :D

Josh, I think that's a cool format. It'll keep the Top 3 trying to stay on top of their game, while at the same time keeping the rest of the field racing for positions, too. I say we see where it goes.

Oh, and screw pit stops. Yes, you'll have to make them. But they are the most ungodly pain the ass. I was running a setup last night that was only using about 20% braking. Works great on that track, but God forbid you have to stop to refuel. Went right past the pit box and that pretty much killed the whole run. Add to that the fact that only about 30% of the pit box will register your yellow circle and pitting is still an exercise in futility. I said it last year. I'll say it this year. Pit Stops Suck!

Just put down a couple more times.

I am having non of the software issues with my new computer that I had last year on my old computer. Sure is nice to run without it getting choppy for no reason.

I can't even imagine how you were racing with the gameplay being choppy. It happens to me every once ina while and it really sucks. I always close out every other open program when I run VRC.

It would only happen occasionally.

I see you fellas are catching up. Very nice! This is gonna be a very intereting season :)

Who are we missing?

What the heck is Ralph doing? He's go the program and he's signed up...C'mon Rolex! Randy needs some ROTY competition!

Dom!

Tom!

Where are you guys?????

I'm starting to feel a bit better. As of last night I'm only 4 seconds behind you. Still sorting out the consistency issue. But it's been that way for the last 2 years. Starting to get closer to multiple sub-19 laps. I'll have to see if I can roll that momentum into Heemstede.

I tried a couple different setups last night with little success. I tried my Lux setup which was horrible and my Jundai setup which was pretty decent although much more line sensitive

Finished my runs.

I was able to improve to 23 laps in 8:09.170.

I feel a lot more comfortable than I did last year. I don't really know why since I hadn't touched VRC since the last race last year.

Off to practice on the next track.

Ahhh yes.

Now I remember the next track. I still hate the end of the back straight.

Yeah!

Where are you bitches?

There is a week to get some times in this year per event. Plenty of time to put down at least one run.

Exactly! I can't do much more to make this accessable to everybody.

Lookin good Rob! You really have improved since last season. This certainly will not be a runaway season for the Championship like last year. Competition is stiff. I just wish we have a couple more guys... hint hint fellas :)
