RC YouTuber exposes himself as a sham

I've been laughing at this all morning and had to share. This dude has 11k followers and completely exposed himself as a know-nothing sham with one simple brushless install. My man doesn't know what to do with a standard receiver. Yes, he's good at content creation. Yes, some people only know RTR stuff. Yes, not everyone wrenches on their own stuff. I understand all the arguments...But this dude is an "influencer" who regularly works with large brands like Amainhobbies.com to make you and I want to buy certain things. Yet, his skill set doesn't extend beyond hitting the power switch and pulling the trigger. Absolutely freaking wild.

How many professional drivers can rebuild an engine? Just because you're not good at one aspect doesn't mean you are bad at what you do.

Did you at least give him some constructive criticism or just came here to put him on blast?

i get it
if I'm going to make a video to show people how to do something i would HOPE i would at the very least be able to do that something.

when i make a video asking for help on an issue, no one is assuming i know wtf i am doing lol, but if i have a large branded channel, i make daily or weekly videos and how to's, or just try to influence your purchase, i should know my stuff.

no one is watching my wrenching video to learn something new. i would ASSUME a lot more people watched that video, with the intention of learning something new. (probably about their losi nascar)
the only thing we learned was that he is not as comfortable with the wrenching aspect of the hobby.
my only issue in this would be that he is portraying that he knows things he doesn't. to me that would devalue the video for me.

imagine if bill gates was personally showing us his personal pc, but in the middle of it he says o wait i can't get this to load, i need to holler at my peoples...
or if musk was showing you how his bulletproof glass works then breaks the glass with a bat... he didnt personally design the glass but HIS name is associated with it.
it brings a level of uncertainty that makes one look and wonder.

i watch most youtubers to just find that one bit of info, might take 4-20 videos before someone has the same issue and fixes it. but if i know someone is unable to answer my question. in this case how do i upgrade my nascar, and i find a video describing this exact scenario... I'm a little salty when i discover he is unable to teach me,

if he was portraying it as come learn with me instead of let me show you, i would dig it.

Anytime I have done anything that could be seen as a how to video I always say things like "I'm not telling you to do this, or even that you should do this, just that this is what I did"....and usually if it worked or not.
The thing I would like to see is an end to people believing they're obligated to provide a disclaimer with the yt content.
If I make a video that inspires someone to scratch build with styrene, msds sheets are free and available....I believe they should be clever enough to read up on mek before diving in and if not....well.

He's great at what he does. I admitted that in my first post. He's a great influencer. He has amassed over 10k followers with a channel based around a topic he knows very little about. That's honestly incredible.

It's not just him. This is just a screaming example. The majority of big-name RC Youtubers are fairly inept at the hobby but GREAT at making content to push products in our faces. The problem I have is this scenario: Someone brand new to the hobby just bought a Losi Nascar, a brushless upgrade, and a new receiver. They head to YouTube to learn. They search around a bit and the algorithm will likely throw this short in their face based on the popularity of the influencer and the subject matter. The new person is now even more confused than when they began. He's claiming to be an expert, a CEO in fact...but that's clearly not the case.

Did you at least give him some constructive criticism or just came here to put him on blast?

I just came here to put him on blast so people can make better choices when choosing who they follow on the YouTubes.

I don't think I would have posted that video if I were him, I also wouldn't have posted it as a short in portrait mode. I can't stand watching portrait mode videos. My eyes aren't one above the other, they're side by side for that gloriously wide field of view.

There are a lot of influence video creators, I tend to not watch their videos unless I have good reason to.
