I've always thought that it would be pretty cool to make a GOOD rc UFO. Here's my idea:

Go w/ the tradional UFO shape
4 ducted fan units on the bottom for up and down
2 ducted fan units in the sides w/ servos to control direction

I haven't yet decided what type of radio system would be needed, I think a 4 channel system will be fine. I would have to have the body of the ufo PERFECTLY symetrical so it doesn't crash out of control. The 4 fans for up and down would all be hooked up into one esc. Then the two for direction would also be one esc. Then the two servos would be hooked up to a y-harness so they can use one channel.

I doubt that I'll actually build this, but I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were on it.

Would I need any gyros to make this project?

I mainly want to build this to scare the neighbors at night. lol.

If it is only the fans holding it up then it is aminly just a wierd shaped helicopter. Helis ned gyros, and if they don't they prolly make it a hell of a lot easier to fly.
