hi,

my friend has just purchased a 2nd hand starter box and it is without pegs at the front and we have tried it on both mine and his buggy and without the glow plug in it turns the engine over fine but with it in, it just doesn't grip the flywheel and spins and wheres itself away. any help plz

With some models you need to get the starter up to speed then jam the car down on it.
The other option is to loosen the glow plug just enough to lose full compression, and when the engine starts, tighten it down.

i improvised because i made some pegs from nuts and bolts and i works perfectly.:D
