1.) Started with department store toy r/c from 6-13 yrs. old.
2.) From 13-15 raced electric on road parking lot ovals with lowered off road trucks (touring cars didn't exist yet); I won pretty regularly over all the Associated and Losi offerings with a crappy Traxxas Hawk 2. Gave it up because I didn't like the competition (people took it too serious), and couldn't afford the upkeep at the time.
3.) From 15-16 bought a Losi XXT w/ 12 turn modified and we built an off road backyard track with friends. The truck spent most of its time broken, since the pivot supports and ball studs were about as strong as wet cardboard. I was still using couple year old batteries that were left over from my racing days. Once those crapped out, I pretty much gave up.
4.) From 16-17, got a dirt bike, and a job which pay for illegal substances and partying. Forgot about R/C, except for occaisionally when my buddy bought a touring car, and then a Losi GTX, which was my first taste of nitro. It never ran, since we didn't know how to tune, so we all gave up R/C shortly after.
5.) 18-23, dark ages for R/C until my buddy picked up a OFNA Ultra MBX R2. Piece of crap by 1/8th scale standards, but the most kick ass thing we had ever seen. Finally got to see a properly running nitro car.
6.) 24-present(which is 25.5) Same buddy got a used Hyper 7 PCR on Ebay, and that prompted me to buy my first buggy (and first R/C vehicle in a decade). I got a used 9.5, and unlike my buddy's mine was in horrible shape. The engines it came with gave out in days, so did the servos, diffs, etc. The buggy I bought for $330.00 has currently burned over $1500.00 in my pocket (between repairs and upgrades). We built a self watering off road track, and had 4 cars going, which was a blast.
But two moved away, and my buddy that kept me close to R/C all these years, well. . . his girlfriend shat out a kid, basically leaving me with $2k worth of buggy and nobody to drive with. The nearest (and only) 1/8th buggy track is 30+ miles, and I work the days they race. So now I pretty much just take my buggy out and bash it once a month or so, when the planets align, my girlfriend isn't around, and my buddy with the kid manages to escape the family.
So I went from basher to racer to basher to racer(on a backyard track) to basher again.
